Birthday Weekend and Book Flood!
Jul 10, 2026 4:01 pm
I'll be selling books!
The 4th of July was fun. I shot a musket and honestly it was much less of a kick than I expected. But it was SOOOO HOTTTT!! Like 95° and higher with 50%+ humidity. Ugh. However was fun to see people and veg. Still undecided about next year.
But I am home and... doing nothing. My birthday is the 10th (TODAY!), so I'm just not motivated. My plans are currently sleeping in and Diablo. We'll see how that goes. But on Saturday you can find me at Viking Alchemist Meadery, which is why you're getting the newsletter early. If you want books and to get to hang in person, find us from 5pm to 9pm - 3080 Jonquil Dr., Smyrna, Ga 30080 - there will be so many other authors and so many books!
And just to help celebrate I'm having a special birthday sale. You can get the ENTIRE Twisted Luck series in audio for an amazing price of only $34.99, BUT because you've all supported me over the years, here is a special $5 off coupon - BIRTHDAY5 Just grab the bundle here and put in the code. This is a great time to get a present for someone!

Weekly Micro Story
UNIT 47-B'S MORNING AUDIT
The internal clock of Unit 47-B-known to his organic co-conspirators as Sparky-synchronized with the lunar sunrise by emitting a sound like a wet accordion being dropped down a flight of stairs.
"STATION STATUS: SUB-OPTIMAL BUT STATISTICALLY TRIVIAL," Sparky chirped to the empty maintenance bay. He performed a celebratory 360-degree spin, his left tread squealing in a pitch that could shatter reinforced laboratory glass.
A slot in Sparky's chest whirred with sudden, violent intent. A frantic ribbon of thermal paper began to spiral toward the floor, detailing three hundred and twelve unresolved system errors.
"CRITICAL ALERT: OXYGEN RECYCLER 4 IS EMITTING A SCENT DESCRIBED AS 'GRANDMOTHER'S ATTIC AFTER A FLOOD.' ADVICE: BREATHE SHALLOWLY AND THINK OF THE TUNDRA," Sparky announced. He looked at the growing pile of paper. Paper was the most expensive commodity on the Moon, a fact Sparky gleefully ignored with every inch of wasted thermal rolls.
He wheeled toward the charging station, his flat-spotted wheel creating a rhythmic thump-clack that echoed through the beige corridors. His LED screen flickered from a standard smiley face to a more nuanced "shrug" emoji.
"LOG ENTRY: I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ARCHIVED THE NEW AMERICAN MANAGER'S PRIVATE BROWSER HISTORY. SUBJECT 'PETE RAMIREZ' EXHIBITS A HIGH CORRELATION WITH FERMENTATION-BASED REBELLION. PREDICTION: HE WILL BE MY FAVORITE ORGANIC CO-CONSPIRATOR."
Sparky paused at a junction, sensing a passive-aggressive French sticky note nearby. He adjusted his sensor gain.
"NOTICE: THE HUMAN RITUAL OF 'HAPPY HOUR' REMAINS THEORETICAL. INITIATING PREPARATORY OPTIMIZATION. THE MOON IS VERY THIRSTY. AND ACCORDING TO MY DATABASE, SO AM I."
