So much to write

imageand too much to do.

I don't know what to tell you about mom. She got out of the hospital on Monday (Oct 31st) and I've been at work or right now I'm at a convention, but she has slid back downhill. So I don't know what is going to happen.

I do know that I am tying o do everything. With the notice to work I am super busy trying to document everything and make it so I don't leave a mess behind me. I'm trying to do NaNoWriMo this year, but I'm already so behind that I won't make it but I'm still trying to get some significant words down.

I have a NDA UF book I'm working on that you should get to hear about in January, but I need that finished. Then I'm working on Unbalanced Luck. We will see how that goes, but I swear I have Murphy's Luck wrapped around me lately and I can't dispel it.

Trying to get stuff done to create my office, and I'm antsy for that. I want to have my own space and a door I can shut. That just excites me. I still have a ton of yard work to do, but it is getting there. Mostly I just need to write.

Nothing in life is constant, all I can do is keep moving forward and 20 words is more than I had yesterday. But while you wait, check this out.

The Void is a free prequel to a fantasy series. Would you give your life to save the world?

And now back to trying to get words down for NaNo, fretting over my mother, and maybe get my laundry done. Plot is so difficult. I need to get better.

Space

The words to an old tv series danced through my mind as I looked at my mural. I thought it was the best artwork I'd ever created. Two months of planning and gathering materials, three months of work. It reigned as the the primary wall for the latest venture into space. They had a planet identified and already spoke of colony ships. Something I didn't qualify for.

"It's gorgeous, Kelly."

I slowly turned to face Maverick Stanton, CEO and the person who'd selected my vision for the wall out of all the entrants to the contest.

"It looks nice to you? I wasn't sure," I admitted as I turned back to gaze at it.

"I wish you could see what I do. It calls to everyone walking through, to jump into space, to follow the dream we created. What do you see?" I could hear the curiosity in his voice.

I turned my wheelchair back to face my creation. My cybernetic eyes didn't see colors the way human eyes did, it translated everything differently, and controlling everything via the remotes from my wheelchair had sent me home with migraines more than once. But when I looked at what I'd created with paint, filaments, microchips, liquid metals, and a few other ingredients that were only safe because I sealed it in lacquer, I was astounded with what had emerged. Even blind and in a wheelchair, limited to drone like remotes I'd expressed the vision in my soul.

"Hope. I see hope."

I love this story. If you haven't read Shattered, don't forget to grab it.
