It is finally cold enough

imagethat I am sleeping like the dead.

No, I'm not a vampire-yet. Warm blankets, weight on top of me, flannel sheets, I love sleeping in the fall/winter. Though I'm being very very bad and not out in the garden this weekend. It's been a rough week and I don't have the energy. But I am getting things done! I have okra, Malabar spinach seeds, and tomato seeds. So some progress.

The exciting news for me is I'm turning my library into my office. Here is a before pictures, obviously I've already moved some stuff, but I'm hoping to make it a nice office. Surrounding me are books and built in book cases. I recently sold my comic books and gaming collection to make room to do this. It was hard, but I needed to let go and if I want to make a living doing this writing thing, I kinda need to go all in.

I'll share when it is done. I'm hoping that will be by late November, but we will see. Right now it is just a disaster area.

I do have a question. When I get my store set up that you can purchase books from, is there any interest in Bad Ash Publishing hoodies or T-shirts? I'm just curious at this point trying to see if it is worth it.

Honestly this week (okay month) I've been on a fanfic kick and rereading my own fanfiction. Occasionally I surprise myself with what I've written.

That is it for this week, so I'll leave you with a story. I asked my co-author what picture to choose and he said Space and Blue, so this is image I grabbed.

Location is Everything

This was it, the big moment. It felt like the entire space station held its breath, even if there were only ten people on it. Tests had been run for years, and space ships had gone through the wormhole and back hundreds of times, but those were ships. Everyone agreed it worked, but no one, not the brightest, not the dumbest, had any idea how.

All they could tell you was one moment you were here, the next there. It gave navigation systems conniption fits as they weren't where they should be. It had become standard to get to the other side and reboot the system.

But it had never been done with a space station.

"We ready?" Bruce Sheridan asked one more time. Shaky nods and murmured assent were his response. "Then, go."

The small booster rockets that were meant to help adjust orbits all fired and pushed the station into the path of the worm hole.

Everything flickered and then there was nothingness for an eternity. Lights zapped and fired, but they were back.

Bruce took a deep breath, aching for air, it felt like he hadn't breathed in hours. Everyone around him did the same thing.

"Status?" He asked and the crew started to respond. His racing heart slowed as everything came back with green or minor issues. They had done it.

"Um, sir?" Nancy Keller, the navigation and astronomer said slowly. "We might have an issue?"

Bruce turned to look at her, waiting.

"All the ships that have gone back and forth provided very specific coordinates based off of stars and our solar system."

He nodded, watching her.

"Sir. We aren't in the same place. In fact if my calculations are correct, we aren't even in the same galaxy that the ships go to. We're alone."

Dammit, I don't need another series! If you haven't read Shattered, don't forget to grab it.
