Launches, Sales, and Business

imageThere are days when I wonder if I'm sane.

I love writing stories. I love reading stories. I love being an author. Figuring out marketing and paying HUGE taxes, not so much.

But because of that I want to send huge HUGS to all of you. I know I'm not the best writer in the world, or even in urban fantasy, and I'm definitely not a great marketer. But the fact that you like what I write means more than you would ever believe.

I mean I'd totally share my stress about cost of ads versus returns and trying to write a better book each time, and the slippery plot points, and gods the world building I try to keep consistent. But my eyes glaze over thinking about it. So I won't bore you.

I have meat in the smoker (yes this is a reoccurring thing), a new set up for my office area, and I need to finish my will. Let me know if you want me to share before and after pictures of my office and we'll see if it looks any better.

But on to sales - if you know someone that wants to try My Luck or even if you want to grab it again, it is on sale for a few more days for .99. Grab it now while you can.

Don't forget, Drafted Luck goes live on Friday the 11th! I'm still freaking out a bit about that, but if you haven't pre-ordered it yet, grab it now and let the Amazon gods (or algorithms) know that you love me. This is a long book, coming in at over 110k. Hopefully it will fill the gap in your reading life.

So, I know we all like different stories, and normally I try really hard to only share stories of science fiction, urban fantasy, stuff like that. Well this week I have a slight detour from the norm - Reverse Harem. Look, what person doesn't like the fantasy of having multiple people hanging on their every wish and desire. People who want to make you happy and satisfied in all ways. It is a heck of a daydream. Reality - oh I'd probably be burying body parts of for weeks. But sometimes it is nice to dream.

Whisper - Balancing school, work and two boyfriends is draining enough, but Layla is drowning in her witchcraft duties—literally. Monsters that she has to stop are flocking to her city and she thinks she knows why. But her impetuous incubus and winsome werewolf don't believe her wild theory.

I've always said water is the most powerful magic ability there is. Check out The Prophecy of the Water Sprite - For the first time in thousands of years, the elements are set to combine into the greatest power ever known, and somehow I am the center of it all.

Here is your microstory for the week. This one could be really funny if I expanded it into a novel.

No Shit

The piercing arrow of the chain streaked towards me. I dove to the side, landing hard, already panting.

"I told you. I'm not who you're looking for."

A deep voice echoed from the skull. "J. Daniel Sawyer. Murderer of children. The Fates have found you guilty and this is your punishment."

I heaved myself to my feet, trying to catch my breath. "I told you. My name is Daniel J. Sawyer." My last name ended on a squeak as I ducked covering my head as it lashed back around trying to decapitate me.

"The Fates are never wrong." The flames seemed to leer at me, though the voice could have been from the automated system at the DMV.

"Well they are this time! ACK!" I screamed and dove behind a car, wincing as the gravel in the parking lot removed skin and added bruises. I sat there panting, too old and out of shape to run from a mythical figure of judgement. Did people know they actually came to collect those that did evil? Maybe some of the missing person reports were more than they seemed.

"Take it up with them."

I looked up to see the fleshless grin above me as the arrow point embedded in my heart. Pain engulfed me as I looked at the hole in my chest and I felt my life flashing away. My last sight was the flames dying out around the skull head.

Light burst through my closed lids and I opened my eyes, surprised at the lack of pain. Five beings stared at me, with expressions I likened to guilty kindergartners.

"Daniel J. Sawyer. We made a mistake. You are not in fact a murderer."

Everything flashed back into my mind and I crossed my arms. "No shit, Sherlock."

Really, I don't need any more works in progress.
