Writing Is Ticking Along

And you will get so many books!
I am super proud of myself. Not only did I get an INCREDIBLE mention about my writing by Gary Poole, Baen editor, but I'm smashing my word count goals. Last year my goal was 12k a week. I almost never got that. But this year my goal is 20k a week and... I'm pretty dang close.
Week 9: 15222
Week 10: 25068 <-!!!!
That is last week. I'm trying for 4k a day minimum with goals of 6k. I'm getting there. But what that means is LOTS of story coming. We are ten weeks into the new year and ~drumroll~ I have already written 114k words. So yes, I'm getting to my ultimate goal of 100k a month. Just think about all the stories you get when I'm writing that many words. I can't wait.
But speaking of books, I have to tell you about Katie Cross. I know I've talked about her before, cause honestly she's my hero and I'd like to be as good as she is. But she has a new Kickstarter going for an AMAZING version of her bestselling book 1 - Miss Mabel's School for Girls. Just look at this book!
Here’s a little bit about the story:
Sixteen-year-old Bianca Monroe has prepared for this moment her entire life.
She's joining the quietly famous magical school Miss Mabel’s School for Girls. The only place where she can save her own life. Winning a spot to work directly with Miss Mabel is downright dangerous—particularly with Bianca's secrets to keep close.
Bianca comes face to face with enchanting spells, simmering potions, and the brutal pangs of homesickness.
Unfortunately, Miss Mabel has her own evil plans. If Bianca loses, she’s at the very center of them. Bianca’s only hope lies within the power of her grit, intelligence, and sheer determination.
See! Amazing. The Kickstarter is fully funded and a some of the stretch goals have already been reached:
- Ribbon - DONE
- Sprayed Edges - DONE
- Map Illustrations - DONE
- Extra Illustrations - Maybe
One of the most awesome things is the illustrations she has for it. They are done by the amazing Laila Savolainen. Just look at this!
Gah, so pretty. So if you would LOVE a collectors edition book or just want to help an indy author or just see why I'm so excited - check out Katie Cross's Kickstarter.
That is all from me this week as obviously I've been writing so much my brain is a bit fuzzy. I need a vacation from my brain.

Weekly Micro Story
In the Act
Sergeant Konda Nori stared down at the busy city below him. The influx of the drug stardust was making people crazy. He ignored the flashing lights advertising geisha's, free sake, and cheap bathing. The water at the station was hotter and you didn't need to worry abou tyour clothes being gone when you got out.
The beep-beep of a hovercycle at an altitude that was illegal had his head snapping around. The hand around his hachiwari. A dull sword, it was excellent for breaking bones without killing people, and the curved hook at the hilt was perfect for controlling someone in zipcuffs. Some of his arrests reeked so badly you didn't want to touch them. Konda balanced on his hoverplate, but decided it wasn't worth his time.
He was waiting for a known dealer. If he could capture the dealer he could get an handle on who was supplying the stuff. Then maybe they could shut it down. A crack of light filtered up from below and a smile curved the edges of his mouth. A skinny man in a stained samue stood in the light, the stains fluorescing in the neon flickers.
The same hoverbike he'd ignored floated down, this time soundless without the beeping. Ah, a decoy. If he had gone after it, he would have never caught them. Sergeant Nori pushed off and let the hover plate lower him soundlessly toward the deal. His hand let go of the hachiwari and switched to the gunsen raising it. The metal fan was an excellent way to disable opponents quickly, it also was a relief in the oppressive heat.
He moved silently toward them.
"20,000 CryptYuen for five shaku? Are you mind dead?" The buyer asked waving his arm at the hover bike buyer.
"That's the rates. You in or out?"
The man grumbled but flashed a credit chit to the biker, who caught it. In exchange a small package flew toward him.
Konda keyed his location to arrest in progress and moved in. With more busts like this he might be promoted to Lieutenant some day and be eligible for daisho. Maybe then his father would finally be proud of him.

There you go - a future feudal Japanese society. I'm thinking a cross between Shadowrun and a Kpop Drama.
