| Nolan Keller Briefing • Tue, Feb 3 Nolan Keller — project updateProgress, a gear question for readers, and two curated BookFunnel promos. |
| Dossier Hello from Nolan Keller update headquarters. I’m keeping these emails focused so you only get what you signed up for. There may be an occasional note on Dorwine (my fantasy series), but otherwise this list stays tight on Nolan. Nolan Keller is a modern techno-thriller set in Appalachia, in the fictitious town of Marrow Creek. Many of you read early chapters of The Devil on Klack Mountain on Royal Road—after some soul-searching over Christmas, I’m transitioning that story into a full-length novel. When you hear 'techno thriller' don't think Blade Runner. Instead, think Daemon or The Fortress. No robots with lasers, but there will be some tech that is considered near-future. This first book is set in 2014 so that vibe will be muted slightly. |
| Sit Rep - Drafting and structural work are in active progress. My outline is good--I know where I want to go. But a full novel is different from a pulp serial.
- My current priority is pacing and tension—making sure the story moves cleanly and the stakes stay real. I've trimmed every scene from Royal Road that I've used so far. And they were pretty tight already.
- I’m refining Nolan’s voice so he reads like a grounded professional, not a genre cliché. I would rather you say 'that sounds like a dude I went to school with' instead of 'oh, this is Jason Borne'.
I’ll share specific dates when I have them. Until then, I’m keeping this focused on real progress. |
| Free Intro — If You Want It If you haven’t read the intro yet, here’s the simplest way to sample the series. It’s delivered via BookFunnel and doesn’t require a purchase. If the button doesn’t work, use this link:

| Gear Feature SIG Sauer P320: I keep running into the long-running rumor/claim that some P320s can discharge if dropped, or otherwise fire without an intentional trigger press. SIG disputes that characterization, and there’s also been a voluntary upgrade program in the P320’s history. Because of recent headlines this old problem is cropping back up.
I’m not trying to litigate the internet in your inbox. I’m curious about real-world owner experience because it matters for research, and because a lot of you have deeper hands-on time than I do. My wife has a P320, but it's a 10mm, and it's brand new (mfg 2024 I think). I know this issue pertains to weapons made before 2017. If it is really an issue. Quick question: Have you personally experienced (or directly witnessed) a P320 discharge in a way that surprised you? Lemme know: jack@authorjackadkins.com If you’re comfortable replying, tell me which variant and roughly when you bought it. If not, no worries—just ignore this section. Note: Any firearm mentions are for lawful, responsible ownership and general discussion only—no training, handling, or tactical advice. |

| Quick Dorwine Note If you originally found me through The Dragons of Dorwine: Dorwine isn’t being erased. I’ll share meaningful updates when there’s something concrete to report. For now, these emails stay focused on Nolan Keller. |
