A Special Treat

The Dragons of Dorwine

A Special Treat

A note from Jack Adkins · The Dragons of Dorwine

Good morning from Kentucky. It's a balmy 8 degrees where I'm sitting. Here's a short update with a long-overdue reveal.

✍️ Writing Update

The hinge book between my two Dragons of Dorwine trilogies has been vexing me for weeks. I outline heavily, then try to write my first draft as fast as I can. Sometimes the words don't come. In this case, the words that came wrecked my outline. Anuka has bullied his way into the spotlight of a story that is supposed to be for Ember and Tabir. He's like that.

No matter how I have approached the story, I'm getting the same result. Like I mentioned last week, I need to let this one sit for a bit. I'll do some freewriting for each of the principal characters to try to work out the issue. I won't keep any of those words, but they will give me some resolution.

In the meantime, I'm writing my Appalachian techno-thriller set in the Nolan Keller series. It's a lot of fun!

Finally, I've been putting this off, but a promise is a promise. Though no date has been set yet (thanks Anuka) you are cordially invited to: Ember's Wedding. This is the fourth book in the Dragons of Dorwine series and is totally NOT about Anuka. Maybe.

Ember's Wedding

Ember's Wedding

This idea took root in my mind while writing The Eye of a Dragon and has been lurking there ever since. I'll keep the spoilers to a minimum for those working their way through Book 3, but this book signifies a vast change in Dorwine. The status quo of the first three books will be overturned in this book. The tone is intended to be a bit more cozy fantasy, but it will usher in a new direction for the series.

🐉 Lore from Dorwine

“As Ember stroked her hair, noting it had grown, he said, "Yondi, what would you think about spending whatever days we have left together?”

This one is right in my wheelhouse. There are a ton of great Indie Authors with great stories in it. Don't sleep on this one. It ends soon.
