First things first. I'm behind on Nolan Keller, and he's not happy about it. On top of May being kind of a whirlwind of Mother's Day, graduation for one of my sons, 2 Proms, and projects hitting hard at work, I'm swamped. And I'm stuck.

*Spoiler Alert* Nolan is about to have his first real car chase. That makes it my first car chase, as a writer. There are so many iconic car chases in novels I really want to do it right. And there is so much to consider to make it exciting, yet accurate. So I'm behind. Hopefully, I'll finish the next chapter early next week.

Second, I got a new toy! So it's not really a toy. It's a lethal instrument of death that I am taking very seriously. As many of you know, I spend time with my family in the woods. There have been bears and wild boar have been spotted there. Those don't play fair. So I got an equalizer.

Rock Island Armory 1911 Ultra FS 10mm. It's not ideal for bears and boars. I was thinking a 686 .357 Magnum revolver would work better, or a .45 would be best, but in the end I went for an ACP for more rounds and quicker reload. And the price was right.

I have no interest in hunting bears or boars with this. I encountered a bear with two cubs in the wilds of Alaska, and it's not an experience I want to repeat. This is the last resort, break-glass option. Besides, it should be a nice compliment to my wife's Sig Sauer P320 X10. :)
