T-Minus 4 Days!
Mar 20, 2025 3:11 pm
Hey there!
It's been an interesting couple of weeks since my last update. In that time, the weather took a huge turn, shifting to be so warm that the kids have been spending endless time outside getting dirty, wet, and exhausted as they play in the mud and puddles. I've also had the privilege of starting the 'poop scoop' journey as layer after layer of the deep much thaws each day. It is pretty impressive to see how many layers there are. And with the warmer weather and stretched days comes more eggs!
Given the price of eggs, it's hard not to look at these like gold when the chickens lay, and we find ourselves calculating how much money we 'made' in eggs each day. Just yesterday we got 17, which is a welcome change from the less than a dozen a day just a few weeks ago. We'll do our best to put as many eggs away for when their production drops again in the winter. Sarah learned a way to preserve called 'water-glassing' where you pretty much take clean eggs (it's important that they are clean), and submerge them in a bucket of water with pickling lime inside. A little weird, but it works! It's strange having two gallon buckets full of water and eggs.
Last but not least, the kittens have grown significantly in the last couple of weeks, already poking their eyes open!
And, to our delight and surprise, our other cat, Gertrude, had babies since the last email as well. Here she is cuddling with the little squishies.
My Progress This Week
First off, I'm proud to say that Demon Blooded is uploaded and ready for publishing in--get this--FOUR DAYS. It's a surreal feeling when you've been working on a project for such a long time and realizing how close you are to the end of the production. You can see the pre-order page on Amazon HERE. Grab it early now if you want to get it first before everyone else!
Of less importance, but still an update is that ARCs of Demon Blooded went out shortly after my email. It was a much shorter ARC period than I hoped, but that's how it seemed to work out this time. Hopefully I can get the editing wrapped up a little faster for Dwarf Blooded.
Speaking of, what did you think of the cover? I'm excited to say that editing has begun on the third book, I'm roughly 30% through my first edit, so that's looking good. Loving the story (again) as I read through it again. Lots of new characters, new intrigue, and some pretty major plot points are dropped in this one. You better be excited ;)
Just a note that in my Ream Community (https://reamstories.com/dankenner), the first chapters of Dwarf Blooded will start coming out next week! Yep, you heard that right. If you join the community (for a few dollars), you get to start reading the next story a whole six months before it comes out. What's not to like about that?!
Some New Books to Check Out!
warm regards,
Dan
