Family Time, Archery, and Books

Hey there!
I'm still floored by how fast time goes! When I was younger I used to believe adults were lying to me about how 'when you get older, time goes a lot faster.'
Now I can see they aren't lying. This past couple of weeks have been a blur with an archery competition, Valentine's day and projects up the wazoo. One of the biggest things we had to accomplish was getting our bull calf castrated into a steer. That was an ordeal, but it's all done now (which is a relief). Before that, however, I had the opportunity to head down to Utah with my oldest for a National Archery competition. He did awesome shooting alongside the boys in his age group. Even more impressive, he's shooting a barebow. (pretty much a bow with no scope, or fancy instruments to help with aiming).
We drove down for one day, leaving in the afternoon, shooting from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm, then leaving to head back home immediately after. It was a bit of a long day, but I had to get home to do animal chores the next day. One thing people don't think about when you have animals in milk is how you are pretty much home bound most of your life. We've been doing it for so long I'm used to it now, but at first it was difficult.
Valentine's day rolled around, and for a lot of people it doesn't mean much. We, however, have a tradition of having a big Valentine's day party with the kids. We go all out with decorating the house, creating and decorating pouches for the kids, have them write notes to each other, and have a candle light, multi-course dinner with them. This year my wife made a cheese cake with our 'home grown' cows milk. (Even the whipped cream is fresh from the cow)
Needless to say, it was a hit this year. There is a decent chance it will make a re-appearance next year.
My Progress This Week
Writing has been moving forward steadily, and I have to say the story took some turns that I was not prepared for. Jared is having to deal with a lot more chaos and troubles than the teens in the other books, but fortunately he's up for the task. As the quest to find the remaining of the six half-bloods continues, the enemies plans unfold even further, revealing how Qotanians are no longer the other people in danger. Fairy Blooded is now at 95k. My fingers are itching and tingling to get to the end of this book.
With the impending finish of the fourth book, and with copy edits for Demon Blooded nearly finished, it's about time to crack open book three of the series, Dwarf Blooded. I completed the draft for this quite awhile ago, and while I'm a bit nervous to see what I'll find there, I'm also excited to remind myself what happens in that book. Being a pantser is a strange thing (I often forget what I even wrote once it's out of my head).
Just a note that in my Ream Community (https://reamstories.com/dankenner), chapters 16-19 for Demon Blooded are now up if you are interested in getting early access to the story. If not, the book is set to be released March 24 of this year!
Some New Books to Check Out!
