Meeting his leading man isn’t the experience he thought he’d have with his fated mate.

Aubrey Moss isn’t special. He’s a front desk clerk at a mid-level hotel in Valleywood. He makes just enough money to pay his bills. So how does he gain a stalker?

Foster Wright isn’t looking for love. He loves acting and doesn’t mind the long hours he sometimes has to put in. He doesn’t see the point of spending his time any other way. Until he meets the new front desk clerk at his favorite hotel and discovers they’re fated mates.

Foster isn’t looking for attachment, not even his fated mate. But when he discovers Aubrey is in danger, he can’t resist the pull to protect.

The Wright Experience is the romantic twenty-first book in the Mpreg MM Paranormal Romance multi-author Valleywood series. If you like characters with an age gap and a strong wolf shifter actor who will do anything for his mate, then you’ll love this sweet story.

As Foster closed the distance, he was able to get a good look at his mate. He got the little part right. He wasn’t much bigger than Deandre. And there was no mistaking the fact he was an omega, not that Foster doubted it. He had hair so dark it was almost black and big brown eyes that appeared even bigger as he watched Foster close the distance between them.

The middle-aged woman raised her eyebrows and then stepped in front of the omega. She was an alpha and probably some type of apex predator, given how she didn’t back down when Foster growled.

His wolf didn’t like anyone coming between them. His wolf’s reaction aside, he understood it for the protective gesture that it was.

As he stepped up to the counter, the woman spoke, but he held up a hand. He met his mate’s gaze. “Can we talk somewhere private?”

His mate was a wolf shifter like Foster. He sniffed the air like a canine as Foster drew near, trying to get more of Foster’s scent.

He stepped around the woman, putting a hand on her arm. “It’s all right, Tisha.”

“Are you sure? You said he was angry.” That last part, she whispered, but Foster was close enough to hear it.

“I wasn’t angry. And I’d never hurt you even if I was.” Maybe saying it straight would put his mate at ease.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize we were mates.” He came around the counter and then gestured toward his right. “If you’ll follow me, please, Mr. Wright.”

Two things occurred to Foster. One was that his mate was too far away. Inches would have been far enough, but the yard separating them wasn’t something he liked. The second was the formal way he spoke. Foster didn’t like that either.

“It’s Foster.” One problem corrected.

And then he did as his mate asked, quickening his pace until there was a couple of feet separating them.

“That’s weird.” His mate’s chuckle was more of a giggle. It was cute and suited the softness in his voice.

“What is?” Gods, what the hell was Foster supposed to do? He hadn’t even had a conversation with his omega and already he was enamored. And there was an instinct to protect he couldn’t deny. The mating pull was part of it, but there was also something about the way he cowered that put Foster on alert.

“Calling you Foster. You’re Joseph Wright, the sheriff. And your cowboy hat is missing.”

Foster smiled. “I think it’s with the costumes department on set. Along with the boots.”

“It just feels so surreal.” He stopped at a door and slid a key card inside. He flipped on a light as he entered.

He’d picked a supply closet.

Foster shut the door behind him and then raised his eyebrows at his mate’s choice of rooms.

He blushed. “I thought a hotel room with the bed was probably too much, considering we’re mates.”

The acknowledgement made something in Foster’s stomach tighten. “What’s your name?”

“Aubrey Moss. I’m a wolf shifter from the Midwest.” He wore dress pants and a dark blue button-down shirt. The color suited him even in the dim light of the small space.

“I pegged the wolf shifter part already.” Yeah, Foster might not have ever wanted a mate, but he wanted Aubrey. At least he wanted the physical part of mating. It was the rest he wasn’t sure about. And that made him an asshole for suggesting the talk. He should have let Aubrey walk away.

“All right.” It was that single word that made Foster realize Aubrey had said something and he hadn’t responded. He’d only stared.

“I’m sorry. It’s taking me a minute to process this.”

“Me too.” Well, at least he wasn’t alone. “Of all the people in the world, I never would have thought you were my mate. That’s so…”

“Surreal. Yes, you’ve said already.” Foster had never liked the attention that came with being an actor. It was something he’d had to endure because he didn’t have a choice. But it seemed Aubrey was stuck on him being Foster Wright, the television star. “Maybe we should revisit this conversation at a later time.”

Aubrey’s face fell. If Foster had punched him, he would have had a similar expression. “I…I’m very sorry if I’m making you uncomfortable.”

“It’s not only that. I’m not sure I have time for a mate.” He hadn’t thought about much beyond his work, and he wasn’t sure if he wanted to, truth be told. But he wouldn’t say that last part aloud.

He could see how he’d hurt Aubrey, although that wasn’t his intent.

His instinct was to backpedal and say whatever would take that stricken look off his face, but he kept his mouth shut and waited to see what Aubrey would say. But they stood there without either of them saying anything. Aubrey wouldn’t meet his gaze.

“We can continue the conversation later, all right?”

Aubrey shrugged.

Foster stepped closer and lifted his chin with a finger. The frown was the first real sign of spunk Foster had seen, and he liked it. “I promise to have the conversation later.”

“Fine.”

“You know where I’m staying. Come to my room tomorrow.” But Foster was the one backing away from Aubrey. Not the other way around. They both knew it. It sat like lead between them, creating a barrier Foster regretted, despite him being the one to put it there. He wasn’t sure of what, if anything, he wanted to do about it.

“I’m not chasing you like a…a fangirl, Mr. Wright. Rest assured of that.”
