I have the most exciting news.

And I can’t wait to share it with you.

The month, the year, hell, even a speck of love is celebrated here. 

I have various plans for Valentine’s Day, plus a few backups, since this year it’s my turn to plan the date.

Do you also take turns in hosting special days?

Essentially, it means I politely inform my husband when it is his turn to plan a date. This comes in all forms. It could be the quirky note left on the fridge or a well-placed comment. Or the random message he receives the night before, stating the consequences if he has failed to plan anything for this very important day (The anniversary of the first time he introduced me to his friends).

What I meant to say is that it’s really laid back and low-key here.

But every once in a while, it’s my turn to dazzle and show him a glimpse of the woman he married.

So, what would you prefer?

A moonlight picnic (keep in mind I will be somewhere where it's as sandy as the wild west, complete with tumbleweeds).

Or

A steak dinner (that will have to be cooked outside, because we always braai, right, my bru?)

Or the last option is a quiet night at home, watching a movie. I’m leaning toward a Wicked Marathon, but I'm not sure if the death of a witch will exactly set the mood.

But enough about my dilemma, let’s get to the juicy bits.

I am so psyched to cordially inform you that I have book signings scheduled for this month, and I’m bursting at the seams. Much like the boogie man, only with me, cake, and sentences will spill out and mess up your floors with some very dirty words.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’m officially in editing mode. I finished Sweet Secrets in January, and I'm horrified to say the first draft is extremely rough, with obvious spelling mistakes throughout.

Thank you for the failed vote of confidence, Word.

It is also taking me some time to wrap my head around the new characters.

I was so invested in Naz and Griffin and had the opportunity to live vicariously through them.

But Rose Cooper is a brand-new enigma, and she is infesting my bones.

I mean, I love Rose and Bastian. And every time I write a new FMC, I add a little secret ingredient from my own personality.

But sometimes, it also takes me a little while to like myself again after imagining such atrocities, like the ones you find in Sweet Secrets. 

And there are zero regrets. Every word I pen down heals my soul just a little more. And at the rate I’m going, I expect full recovery in about sixteen thousand years.

But isn’t that the beauty of writing?

The opportunity to put someone in a position to overcome obstacles, slay dragons, and force the MMC to his knees.

I love my life every single day, but I have you guys to thank for the option to dazzle with obnoxious demands.

Just know that every person who reads even a single word makes my dream come true.

This is not related to my writing, but it does influence it enough to mention.

We are renovating my itty-bitty kitchen. Which means I’m eating Twinkies, three meals a day, and everything is covered in dust.

On the upside, there are no more dishes to do. Something I suddenly have a craving to perform.

And if you know me at all, you know I assume dishes are the way to keep me humble and grounded. And it gives me time to clear my mind of all the murderous insights I might harbor.

So technically, doing the dishes might have saved some lives, but now we’ll never know.
