Seasons of Change

Wow. What a crazy weekend. I planned to send this newsletter days ago, but a friend had a pretty sick kiddo, and I chose to set everything else aside to be present for her in a scary situation. God answered prayers with healing and peace, and we're all breathing a little easier today.
It feels like a season of making some hard decisions between good things. I was accepted to teach a class at a writers' conference this coming April, but I have had to make the decision to step aside from that because it conflicts with a ministry conference I can go to in Dallas with co-workers. Both benefit me, but I had to weigh out what I need to prioritize in this season of life.
I am weighing out other things, too. My schedule is so full of good things, but it's been taking me away from the better thing: time with Jesus. I was highly aware this weekend that my cup is empty, and I haven't been allowing time with my Savior, the only one who can fill it.
Maybe you can relate to having to make hard decisions and re-prioritize things. It can be hard and sad to say goodbye to some things, but I've realized on a deeper level the truth from Ecclesiastes: nothing is permanent, and everything has its season.
As I write this, it's November 7th, and 80 degrees outside today. Yet I know that this season, too, will be short-lived, and the cold will return in full force. It is a very tangible reminder from the Lord and comforting in its way.
I have a fun book to highlight today, so keep scrolling for that! Have a wonderful week!

Substitute Suellen
Suellen made a lousy choice when she married her bank-robbing husband. How can she trust her heart and head when both tell her that she has met someone she can love?
Gold! Suellen finds a hidden stash of the gleaming coins under the false bottom of her dead husband's trunk. The bank's name, stamped on the bag, tells her that it is stolen. She realizes she must return the gold, but why does the scout insist on accompanying her? She knows that Rufus hates her.
Rufus does not plan on letting the woman out of his sight. Suellen unknowingly is a part of his family's plans for revenge. And does she really think she can cart a baby halfway across the country?
Will a trip to return gold turn into love? Only if two frozen hearts thaw enough to embrace their chance at happiness.
But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine."
