Fall is in the Air

Hello, my darlings,

I'm starting to feel and see those hints of fall in the air, and since I love fall, I'm excited for it. I'm looking forward to baking with apple and pumpkin and changing leaves and my fall decorations, but I'm also not rushing and enjoying this transitional time when I get to keep the windows open and note those first changes on my morning walks. I'm not going to lie, it's also nice to be writing a book set in autumn as the season turns to autumn!

Writing has been up and down, but I feel like I've figured out some things that were just out of reach, that help me with the characters and the feel of the story that I really needed. So now maybe I can make more progress with this book. I'm still so excited for this witchy, cozy series, even when writing slows, which helps me keep pushing. I do need to come up with titles for the series so Natasha can build the covers around them, which...yikes. Titles are almost always tough for me! For everyone asking about the third book in the Dragons of Ivria series, do not despair. I also have that on my mind and I'm playing with it as well. I'm not sure if I'll do some writing on both at the same time or dive seriously into book 3 once I finished the first witch book—I guess I'll see what my brain wants, but I'll try not to keep you waiting too long. I know you're looking forward to what happens next in Ivria!

Speaking of dragon shifter books, my first, The Dragon's Devotion, was first published nine years ago this month. I still love this book, a mix of fantasy, mystery, and romance. It's the fifth book in the Chronicles of Tournai, but it stands alone (and has some ties to the Dragons of Ivria too). I decided to put it on sale. The ebook is $2.99 (or equivalent in your currency) at all retailers through September. Now is a great time to grab it if you haven't yet.

All the usual things are below, including links to a couple of events I'll be attending this fall.

To Know a Dragon Spy

Once upon a time, before the hunts, dragons were plentiful in the world. Now they exist only in legend…except in the land of Ivria.

Felix is a prince, cousin of the current king, ward of the old one. Knowing he would never sit on the throne, he set himself to become something else-the king's best spy. Aside from a trusted few, people know him as a frivolous, flirtatious prince. They don't see the keen mind behind the charming smile or the love of family and quiet behind the silks and jewels. They certainly don't know he is the eyes and ears of the king. Felix still blames himself for not discovering the plot against Ivria and its king at its beginning, and he's determined to find the remaining members of the conspiracy. If the commander of the King's Guard will get out of his way.

Alan is commander of the King's Guard, a role he set himself on the path toward when he was very young. He takes his duty seriously, so seriously there is little room for anything else in his life-not the pastimes he used to enjoy or family or even love. Especially now with the heightened danger to the royal family. He crushed his attraction to the beautiful Prince Felix long ago, but when he finds out Felix is more than he appears, Alan immediately becomes suspicious. Is Felix working for the king or against him? Alan won't let himself be fooled by a pretty face that hides so much, no matter how he used to feel.

But the real danger is closer than Felix or Alan realizes, and they're going to have to get over their animosity for each other-and deal with the desire that sparks when they do-if they're going to survive it.

This is the third book in the Maple Hollow series of cozy, autumnal paranormal romances. The first two books were delightful and seasonal and fun, and so far, this one is too.

Monthly Book Rec

Sometimes you just find exactly the right book at the right time (or your library hold comes in at exactly the right time!), and this lovely, cozy fantasy romance was just that for me. The first three books in the series were also wonderful, but this might be my favorite so far.
