47 - Bramework is shutting down

Nov 24, 2023 11:01 pm

Hi

Bramework AI is one of the tools that was launched in 2019. It was the time when a lot of of AI writer tools were launched. I was an early supporter of the tool.

(read about it here https://www.bramework.com/bramework-software-retirement/. I am attaching the screenshot of the webpage below, in case it gets taken down.)

Here is my analysis of why Bramework is shutting down

  1. ChatGPT killed the AI writer market. Most people want small bits of content written for an email or a letter. Everyday stuff. The market for serious writers is small. And ChatGPT, a free tool, killed the AI Writer tool market. They removed the casual writer from the target group.
  2. Life Time Deals was the only effort put in to market the app. A couple of reviewers did create videos on YouTube. They were not very flattering. There was no effort put into marketing.
  3. Delay in releasing new features. They started releasing much requested features in early 2023. By then ChatGPT was out and people moved to OpenAI tools. Too little. too late.
  4. Autoblogging is the biggest market now. Autoblogging tools allow users to create a post blogs into their website automatically. The user only has to put the topics and keywords. Everything else is managed with better AI tools. Bramework did not change their model to cater to this rapidly growing market.

My Takeaways

  1. AI will kill many more businesses. This seems obvious to me. As the competition increases, use cases and tools will go beyond content creation, analysis, and image generation.
  2. Sometimes there is no winning against technology shifts.
  3. Customer problems don't disappear even with new technologies.
  4. There is always a segment of the market looking for better features, or for premium services.
  5. Market needs shift as new technologies, products, and brands become part of everyday life. Keep up with shifting market needs.

Businesses die, or get killed. It happens.

A business is not an extension of you as a founder, neither is it a validation of your skills.

A business is a vehicle to fulfil the markets needs.

Keep speaking with you target market.

Observe how their needs are shifting.

Segment the market based on jobs-to-be-done.

Stay agile. Be nimble. Keep moving.

Best
