Guidelines for Poetry for the Dementia Journey
Apr 14, 2023 8:01 pm
Hello wonderful poets!
We are thrilled to have you join us for our Poetry for the Dementia Journey virtual event on Tuesday, April 18th, starting at 2 p.m. EST, where a community of poets will share poetry about their caregiving journeys. Our goal is to provide solace, comfort, and grace to those on a dementia journey.
Be sure to reserve your seat if you have not already done so:
This helps us keep track of who is coming.
The response to this program was tremendous!
We have had almost 60 poets sign up to share their work.
We never know exactly how many people will show up for an event (usually half who register do), so we're doing our best to organize the program to ensure everyone gets the most out of it:
- The program may stretch to 2 hours, and maybe a little longer, if we need to.
- We understand you may not have the option to participate in the entire program due to time constraints, however we encourage you to attend for as long as you can.
- We also expect participants to pop in and out as time allows.
- The program is structured in such a way that people can enjoy the whole program or drop in to hear a few poems and then move on with their day.
Reading Guidelines
Plan to keep your poetry to no more than 2-3 minutes. However, please prepare a second poem, and if time permits, we will have another round of readings for those who are able to stay.
FAQs
- All participants will receive the free Poetry for the Dementia Journey compilation of our authors' work before it is made available to the public.
