Hello ,
In this new podcast, discover the unexpected truth about dementia care from a professional who found herself on the other side of caregiving. March 7th is Social Security's Slam the Scam Day
Our loved ones are at high risk of falling for Social Security scams, leading to fraud. Social Security fraud occurs when an unauthorized third-party gains access to someone's Social Security number and exploits it for their own financial benefit. This may lead to identity theft and financial loss. It could also impact medical care. Unraveling such fraud can be an expensive, time consuming, stressful ordeal. Let's avoid it.
On National Slam the Scam Day and throughout the year, SSA.gov gives us tools to recognize Social Security-related scams and stop scammers from stealing our money and personal information.
Help protect your loved ones and people in your community this Slam the Scam Day by:
- Educating them about government imposter scams. Let them know they shouldnโt be embarrassed to report if they shared personal information or suffered a financial loss. It is important to report the scam as quickly as possible.
- Sharing ourโฏScam Alertโฏfact sheet and helping educate others about how to protect themselves.
Report Social Security-related scams to the Social Security Office of the Inspector General (OIG): https://secure.ssa.gov/ipff/home.
Visit www.ssa.gov/scam for more information and follow SSA OIG on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to stay up to date on the latest scam tactics. Repost #SlamtheScam information on social media to keep your friends and family safe.
