Hello ,
As we enter the holiday season, the news is full of stories of war all over the world. Itโs easy to shut out the horrors, the brutality, the confusion and chaos. Turn off the TV. Dial down social media. Donโt read the papers. And yet, many of us cannot look away, and millions of us canโt escape warโs realities, heartbreak, and hardships. I wonder and worry about those on a caregiver journey during war time, thinking about the challenges they face when their worlds are literally falling apart around them. In this weekโs podcast, Miriam Green joins Christy and I for a revealing conversation about her life in Israel, just 30 miles from the Gaza border, as she struggles to maintain normalcy for her family in the midst of disorder and destruction, especially for her mother, who lives in a care home, and her young grandchildren. You will learn how she finds moments of peace and hope, how the care home manages to continue operating, and the challenges a country at war faces. We're grateful to Miriam for sharing her story: one womanโs experience, one war. We would love to share stories of other caregivers caught in such conflicts, but for now hers is all we have. We take no sides, and seek to share only the realities of this author's life.
May this and conflicts all over the world come to an end, and peace prevail on Earth.

Our Latest Author
Pauli Pedersen introduces us to her memoir, River of Dementia. Pauli shares her familyโs story, interwoven with the downward spiral of her fatherโs dementia.
In Pauli's words:
With a degree in English, I had always wanted to write. When I was younger, I lamented the fact that I had no good stories. I dabbled, but during college, teaching, and raising five children, time flew by. Then came Dadโs battle with dementia. That was a story I needed to pass on, and I realized I held lots of other family history that required memorializing. Everything would be lost after I was gone. Dadโs life ran through it all. I had a colorful tapestry to weave.

We Are So Grateful
Every penny of your donation benefits caregivers. For those of you who donโt know, AlzAuthors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is managed by a small group of author-caregivers whose personal lives were impacted by Alzheimerโs and dementia.
Each member of the management team of AlzAuthors is a volunteer and works diligently on behalf of others throughout the year.
Our mission is to share Alzheimerโs and dementia stories to light the way for others. One way we do that is by placing our Custom Caregiver Collections, libraries filled with valuable caregiver resources, in care homes, senior centers, memory cafes, university settings and other locations.

Free Screening of "Wine, Women and Dementia" Film Thanksgiving Weekend
From the producer, Kitty Norton, blogger at Stumped Town Dementia:
I'm thankful for fall. I'm thankful for the amazing people in my life. And I'm thankful for you, caregiver.
You may also be feeling thankful as we enter this season of gratitude. Or you may not. You may be feeling worn down, stretched thin, and I get it. So many of us get it.
So, the weekend of Thanksgiving, Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25, and Sunday, November 26, the cast and I offer you complimentary access to the film Wine, Women, & Dementia to let you know that however you are feeling, we are thankful for you.
Please share this screening opportunity with your caregiver connections.
After you've viewed the film, please create a video or a post with your thoughts on the film and share it to #thankful4caregivers on Insta, FB, and/or TikTok.
And if no one else has thought to mention they're thankful for you, this group of former and current caregivers truly are.
Cheers, caregivers! The Cast of Wine, Women, & Dementia

I chose this design because I have always been a reader, a lover of books. Iโve got two or three books in mid-read at all times, whether a hard copy, ebook, audiobook, or some other combo. A love of reading is the cornerstone of AlzAuthors, as all members of the management team believe in the power of books.
