Dear AlzAuthor,
Caregiving is often a lonely road. I still well-remember the many times I felt alone, with no one in my life who really understood the many emotions wrapped up in caring for someone with dementia.
AlzAuthors strives to fill that void for you, easing the burden of your journey. Sharing our stories through our website's many books, blogs and podcasts, we strive to light the way for you. You aren't alone.

Introducing our newest AlzAuthor: Dave Iverson
Emmy winner, writer, documentary film producer/director and retired broadcast journalist Dave Iverson cared for his mother for ten years, until her passing at age 105. His memoir, Winter Stars: An Elderly Mother, an Aging Son and Lifeβs Final Journey shares their story.
Dave tells us:
I wanted to write "Winter Stars" for a number of reasons, but one is certainly because that ten-year caregiving odyssey humbled me, changed me and reoriented me perhaps more than any other life experience. It was both the most challenging thing Iβd ever done and in many ways one of the most deeply rewarding.

Our Latest Podcast
Susie Singer Carter is a Los Angeles-based creative specializing in film and podcasting. Sheβs a writer, director, producer, and actress. Sheβs also an advocate for dementia caregivers having been on a journey with her own mother for 16 years. This inspired her to write, direct and produce the 2018 Oscar Qualified short film, βMy Mom and the Girl,β starring Valerie Harper in her final performance. Sheβs also the host and producer of the award-winning podcast βLove Conquers Alz,β launched in December 2019, which received Best Podcast 2020 from the New Media Film Festival for Episode 6 featuring Leeza Gibbons.
In this episode, we discuss her long, exhausting, enriching dementia journey, how it made her a βbetter person,β and the idea that Alzheimerβs is sort of like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
