Sep 21, 2022 12:31 am
Dear AlzAuthor,
You should have received the email regarding our new project with Larry Smith and Six-Word Memoirs in your inbox on Monday morning. If not, please check your inbox, including Spam, because it's full of all the details you need to get involved with this tremendous effort to bring awareness to Alzheimer's and dementia, caregivers, and AlzAuthors.
We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share your stories. Although it might seem challenging to reduce your dementia experience to just six words, the exercise may do you good. And, you can create as many six-word stories as you wish and add them all to our storytelling page. We can't wait to read your stories!

On the Podcast
Susie Singer Carter is a Los Angeles-based creative specializing in film and podcasting. Sheβs a writer, director, producer, and actress. Sheβs also an advocate for dementia caregivers having been on a journey with her own mother for 16 years. This inspired her to write, direct and produce the 2018 Oscar Qualified short film, βMy Mom and the Girl,β starring Valerie Harper in her final performance. Sheβs also the host and producer of the award-winning podcast βLove Conquers Alz,β launched in December 2019, which received Best Podcast 2020 from the New Media Film Festival for Episode 6 featuring Leeza Gibbons.
In this episode, we discuss her long, exhausting, enriching dementia journey, how it made her a βbetter person,β and the idea that Alzheimerβs is sort of like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Our Newest Author: Laura Davis
Laura Davis' relationship with her mother had been embattled for decades, but the 3,000 miles between them made it manageable. When her mother, declining from dementia, decided to move across the country to live near Laura and her family, old hurts rose to the surface, leaving her wondering if she could be the caregiver to a mother who had betrayed her when she needed her most. Her deep dive into her past, especially the painful parts, and her honesty in bringing them to light makes this book breathtaking. Her story balances both the sadness and loss of losing a loved one with the sense of relief and new life that comes once the journey reaches its natural ending.

All Homecare Matters Announces its Board
We're proud to be connected with our friends at All Homecare Matters Podcast. We share similar missions and beliefs and highly recommend you take the time to listen to their helpful and interesting episodes (after you listen to ours ;) ). On episode 180, the newly formed All Home Care Matters Board of Directors, including Marianne Sciucco, one of our founders, and Christopher MacLellan, who brought our own podcast to life, introduce the board and the wide-ranging services and resources that each of the members provides to caregiving families and their loved ones. They also tackle why it's difficult for caregivers to access the resources they need.
