Question of the Week
Q: Do I need a family advisor to have a successful career?
A: It depends. The elite players (ie. Connor McDavid, Sydney Crosby, etc.) don't need advisors, they need agents. Other players who fall into the 'good' category are the ones who could use an advisor's services. Although players can succeed on their own, it'll usually be much more difficult for them. The advisor will use their experience to save the player crucial time & money by guiding them in the right direction. Here are some examples: they'll use all their connections to ensure the player is on the radar of target teams; they will negotiate deals with teams to ensure the player gets the best possible financial deal; they will give the player valuable advice throughout their career to ensure that they make the right decisions. All that said, a player can choose not to hire an advisor and do all these things on their own, but it's a risker and more complicated strategy.
