Tip of the Week

If a Jr. A organization (pay to play) really wants to sign you, they will often offer you reduced tuition to play for them. For example, a CCHL coach sees you play, loves your style, and envisions you as one of their top players next year. He then finds out that several other coaches are trying to sign you as well. In an attempt to persuade you to sign with his team, he offers you to play for 2000$ next year (instead of 5000$). This might seem surprising, but it happens more often than you might think; we've seen it happen with many of our clients. The key is to have multiple teams interested in you, because that way, it creates a sense of competition between the coaches and they end up offering deals to try and win you over. This is where family advisors can be extremely valuable because they can increase the chances of this scenario happening to you. A family advisor will utilize their extensive network and send out their client's profile & video to all the target coaches; that way, chances are that multiple coaches will show interest, which will then put the advisor and their client in a position to negotiate the best possible deal. Whether you choose to have a family advisor or not, the key is to contact a large number of coaches to increase your odds of having multiple good options. By doing so, you're in a good position when negotiating where you want to play and how much you're willing to pay.
