Hi ,
Today’s devotional invites you to exhale.
Scripture:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5
Many of us were taught directly or indirectly that growth comes from effort. Try harder. Be better. Do more. Even our faith can quietly turn into a performance, where we measure closeness to God by how consistent, disciplined, or impressive we are.
But Jesus offers a different way.
He doesn’t say, produce more fruit. He says, remain.
Abiding is not passive. It’s relational. It’s choosing connection over comparison, presence over pressure, faith over frenzy. When you abide, fruit becomes a byproduct not a burden. You stop striving for approval and start living from belonging.
If you’ve been tired, scattered, or spiritually dry, it may not be because you’re doing too little. It may be because you’re doing too much without resting in Him. Today, let yourself release the need to prove anything—to God or to anyone else.
Reflection:
Where have you been performing instead of abiding? What would it look like to simply stay connected today?
As you move through your day, return to this truth:
You are loved first. Fruit follows later.
Resting with you,
Agatha
