Hey
Here’s this week's 3 Sunday Musings.
1) If you’re struggling with food, let go of “good” and “bad.”
Eating “healthy” is simple, but also oh so easy to become something complex and frustrating.
I learned a long time ago and helped a past client who was really struggling with her food to remove good vs. bad food and healthy vs. unhealthy.
And instead, use eat more, eat some, and eat less.
If you’re thinking about fatty cuts of meat as opposed to learner cuts. You could
- Eat more lean meat
- Eat some medium lean meats
- Eat less fatty meats
This simple model helps you make better choices while keeping your sanity and not having any foods become off-limits.
2) Let go of the idea of balance
This is the topic for tomorrow's Mental Model Monday and has come up frequently this week in my life.
To build an awesome life and achieve goals that the common person won’t, you gotta start looking at balance through a different lens.
Some people want to work a certain amount of hours in a day, watch Netflix and Disney+, and catch up with friends.
For uncommon results with your health and business, I remind myself daily that it’s going to take a huge investment and many people (especially those closest to me) won’t understand, and that’s okay.
I’ll share some simple solutions around this in tomorrow's episode.
3) Genetics matter, and genetics don’t matter
“I can’t fit into my jeans because of my genes.”
How many times have you heard people say this?
Probably none….but it rhymes so well I had to say it ;)
In all seriousness, people have blamed their genetics for their weight, and there is some validity to it.
Some people gain weight more easily and can’t lose it as quickly.
There are specific genes that back this up, and I definitely bring this up to clients when looking at their reports.
However, just because your genetics may not be in your favor in terms of losing weight doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
You have to make more precise adjustments, just as I did when it comes to my genetic propensity for blood sugar dysregulation and poor endurance genetics (I just released an episode on my current training for a marathon + how I’m eating).
If you’re interested in learning more about how obtaining your genetic blueprint can help with your weight loss efforts, reply to this email.
Have an awesome Sunday!
- Julian
