Hi ,

I've been thinking a lot about my own experience of early motherhood, and what a bumpy journey that was.

I wish I had been kinder and gentler on myself while in the midst of the huge learning curve of being a new mom.

It's inspired my newest blog post:

25 Things I Wish I Could Tell My Postpartum Self

If I could go back in time and meet myself as a new mother, I would give her the biggest hug and this is what I would want her to know:

1.    There is no right or wrong way to feel when you see your baby for the first time. You might not be awash with adoration and love. With each passing day, you will get to know one another.

2.    If this is your first time experiencing postpartum and having a newborn, you have nothing to compare it to. If you’re struggling, and having thoughts about that (but think maybe it’s just supposed to be this hard), reach out to someone you trust and talk about it.

3.    There is no right or wrong way to feel about your birth experience. You never forget it and may review it through different lenses as time goes on.
