The artist Marek Zulawski, translation & Polish-British culture
Hi,
Firstly, I apologise for being absent - I was supposed to send the last newsletter on June 19th, but it somehow completely slipped my mind. I think it might be because I'm generally doing a lot of translation at the moment, so my brain might have needed a break.
In keeping with that mental break, instead of translating anything today, I'm just going to post some interesting links for you. I hope you enjoy them.

The Polish presidency, according to AI
Here's an AI interpretation of the recent Polish presidential election. It is a remarkable 10 minutes that will inform anybody who wasn't paying attention that the election was a bit like both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
Tip: You can get YouTube to auto-create serviceable English subtitles.

Poland at the London Design Biennale
Had I posted two weeks ago, I'd meant to highlight the London Design Biennale. The LDB was on for most of June at Somerset House. This year, the Polish Pavilion got a lot of media attention and even some awards. It was all about carving wood to show the passage of time.
Here's a text interview with the people behind it, and here's a video interview showing you around the pavilion itself.

A new Polish-British website
The London-based Polish-language weekly newspaper Tydzien Polski recently announced its new website at MyPolska.UK. It should be dual-language, but I can't get the English button in the corner to do anything, unfortunately.
However, among the articles on the new site is an interview with superstar translator Antonia Lloyd-Jones about her new book The Penguin Book of Polish Short Stories.

That's all for this week. Many thanks for reading. If you want to support the newsletter, please forward it to a friend or donate here.
