Scything connection

Hey there,

I hope that this finds you well. We are having some good weather, sunny days. I’m really noticing this year that scything feels really easy, the grass is easy to cut. The growth has been definitely noticeably slower.

Is that the case with you?

It is an element that I really enjoy about the scythe, how it forces you into connection. Connection with yourself and what’s around and directly in front of you. There is a lot of feedback that you get from scything which you can use because all your senses are available.

I’m often asked where I gained my knowledge when it comes to wildflower meadows, wildflowers and gardens. Well, not from a gardening course. Most of my learning has simply come from following my passion and curiosity for wildflowers.

In the early days of my gardening career I use to get quite frustrated and often disheartened at the amount of time I spent weeding out what are some of my favourite plants. Looking back though it was that time working with those plants that helped me get to know them and grew my passion for them.

For me gardening is a relationship which is based on connections. Whatever you’re up to in your gardening I hope that you are enjoying it. I am working on creating a course for helping gardeners develop their connection to their garden. In the meantime there are my scything courses which help foster that connection as well, I have dates in June and July. For more information head over to my website.

Until next time, happy gardening.
