Dear —
Greetings from northwest England, and a hearty welcome to you as a new member of my NonFiction Readers List.
How are you getting on with Merciful Munching, the free book you downloaded? In it, by sharing what I discovered through an eating disorder, I hope to bring healing, help, and encouragement to others. My audiobook narration is also widely available.
Also, if you have found blessing in this book, I'd love to have your review at Amazon US or at your favourite book retailer. It really helps!
If you haven't come across my work before, by way of introduction I am a British-American author, inspired by Shakespeare, the Bible, and the greatest masterpiece of the English language, Paradise Lost! I have worked in marketing, financial analysis, journalism, broadcasting, education, and the performing arts. Along the way, I have been chewed up and spat out by the corporate systems of the UK, US, and China, and now live in a campervan.
But I have always written — short fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, and epic poetry. And, with a background in voice acting, I have narrated most of these into audiobook form too.
The latter genre (and my favourite) includes my Scrooge-like tale, Obama's Dream, currently FREE in this promotion. How would I describe it? As if Dante and Shakespeare had sat down with Charles Dickens, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, along with a copy of the Bible, to come up with this story of transformation and redemption.
(Getting a copy would add you to my Poetry Readers List, meaning you'll occasionally get an extra email as I tailor messages to readers' preferred genre(s), though you shouldn't get any duplicates.)
Obama's Dream also plays with a recurrent theme in my writing — where, like Moses and Elijah, prophets and angels confront and overthrow political leaders and their systems of oppression.
This tension is especially profound in my latest book, The Covid Prophecies, available today in an Amazon Countdown Deal (US and UK) at $0.99 (normally $5.99). In this distillation from my larger Verses Versus Empire Collection, I liken Covid's role to that of the snake brought forth when Moses and his brother Aaron come to Pharaoh's court in Egypt and demand the abolition of slavery (Exodus 7).
Aaron throws down his staff, it turns into a snake, at which Pharaoh's magicians perform a conjuring trick of mimicry with snakes of their own. What happens to those snakes? They get eaten by Aaron's snake! So, extending the analogy to today, with Covid as Aaron's snake, what do those doomed snakes of mimicry, those vacuous vipers of avarice, represent in today's scenario?
Covid is here as an abolitionist reformer, on a bigger scale even than Moses, even as humanity's power structures strive so desperately to restore "business as usual". But like Pharaoh, drowned in the Red Sea, they too shall perish! Indeed, they must perish for the good of our planet, its peoples, and its species. "Business as usual" is a dead thing now, a wandering corpse.
If you have any questions about The Covid Prophecies or anything else, let me know in reply. Please also feel free to share this email with others who might like to join my readers list.
Blessings,
Abdiel LeRoy
