Dear —
Greetings from the suburbs of Manchester and a rainy Sunday evening. So much rain, in fact, that it has brought a welcome lull in the fireworks neighbors were setting off more than a week after the 'Guy Fawkes' day they are supposed to celebrate!
Well, no fireworks could match Elijah calling down fire from Heaven, nor any rain match the deluge he brought to Israel by his word after years of drought. Which brings me to today's news...
You may already have a free eBook of my novela, Jezebel's Lament — companion piece to Elijah — but in case you don't, it's part of this promotion of some 40 books with 'Epic Female Leads'. You know the sort of thing this genre goes for: bodices and breastplates, buckles and bucklers, leather and lace. Meanwhile, my audiobook narration is listed here.
Jezebel's reign occurred about 3000 years ago in Israel, and ended when court eunuchs threw her from an upper window. Then her corpse was trampled by horses and devoured by dogs! Well, she had it coming, if you believe the Bible's narrative of her life.
Meanwhile, if you get books on Kobo, they're running this Festive Fiction sale including my book The Christmas Tree.
A lot going on, isn't there? And that's normal in the run-up to Christmas. But especially so in this year of Covid and the U.S. election. I've tried to make sense of it all, and you can hear the result in a couple of videos I've posted to my Facebook page: A Virtuous Virus, a Vacuous Vaccine; and Our Champion Pathogen. Meanwhile, I am posting related stuff here on Instagram.
I continue to argue Covid seeks a benevolent "abolitionist" outcome for planet, peoples, and species. Hard-hearted leaders are trying to obstruct its blessings, as did Pharaoh when Moses wielded plague to set the Israelites free from slavery in ancient Egypt. Their fate, like his, is to drown in their own hubris!
Until the next time I unclasp a secret book (to quote Shakespeare, as I often do),
Abdiel
