Dear —
I'm back up in Cheshire, northwest England now and nursing a tender mouth after dental surgery. An apicectomy, thanks for asking.
Now, I know what you're thinking: who is this witty and eloquent fellow Abdiel LeRoy who occasionally sends me an email to brighten my day, lift my spirits, and generally make the world a happier place? I haven't heard from him in a while. I miss his warmth, charm, and wisdom!
And what's his name? Abdiel? What kind of a name is that? Is it Moslem? (I did actually get asked that once at an airport passport control in Buenos Aires, but that's another story.) No, it's not Moslem, it's a name I chose for myself from John Milton's Paradise Lost. Again, thanks for asking.
Paradise Lost? What's that?!
It's an epic poem. You know, a great story told in verse, like Homer's Odyssey or The Iliad. Or Dante's Inferno. Or LeRoy's Elijah or Obama's Dream or Verses Versus Empire.
So, as I said in the headline, I put together a little something for you today, or to quote Shakespeare (as I often do), I gave form to "airy nothing". Do you know that passage from A Midsummer Night's Dream? It's one of my favorites...
The poet's eye, in a fine frenzy rolling,
Doth glance from Heaven to Earth, from Earth to Heaven,
And as imagination bodies forth
The forms of things unknown, the poet's pen
Turns them to shapes and gives to airy nothing
A local habitation and a name.
The local habitation of which I speak today is Airy Nothing, a collection excerpted from my several works of poetry and epic poetry, and it is my free gift to you. And I don't give this book to just anybody. Oh no, no, no, no, no! It's an exclusive gift for members and new members of my Poetry Readers List. Click here to get your copy.
In other news, my non-fiction book A Better Eden, with its tagline "You Are Loved, No Matter What!", is part of this promotion of Transformational Reads. Ranging in price from zero to nine bucks, the books in this promotion cover a range of topics, from the wonders and mysteries of God's grace (that would be mine) to financial management, healthy eating, and overcoming childhood trauma.
And last but not least, I am now co-hosting the 'Audiblegate' podcast, a campaign of authors and narrators calling out the predatory abuses of Amazon's audiobook subsidiary, Audible. We've just released our first episode (I'm the British guy in the duo), and it's rather good. And yes, I do say so myself. And again, thanks for asking. Here's the link.
"Your loves as mine to you." (To quote Shakespeare again, as I often do.)
Abdiel
