Welcome to my First Newsletter!
New year, new you! Improved you! Get it together for a new year!
Screw that.
Let’s change the narrative. This isn’t about finding a new you. It’s about finding how to express who you are already becoming.
There is something about the beginning of a new year where we collectively take a breath. I look at where I’ve been, where I’m at, and where I want to go.
But January is crazy busy and in the past I have tried to start with the New Year when really I needed time to settle in, start the semester, do my annual work review, and all the life things - like putting up the explosion of holiday decorations.
Do you feel this way too?
We start the year trying to change, and hit a brick wall of too much and become overwhelmed.
As time has marched on, I’ve started my ‘new year expression’ at the end of January.
January 31st is still in the first month, but after I have settled in and started to find my groove. It’s also my dad’s birthday. Today as I write this he would be celebrating 107 years. He always supported me expressing myself and making my start day his birthday is perfect.
At the end of each month, the newsletter will come flying into your email box. Expect a little reflection, social media tips, wild cards of who knows what, and of course fur babies!
So, Let’s get started!
Social Media and More Corner
Things have been upended on several platforms since the year began. TikTok’s change in ownership has creator content going ‘poof!’ Is it the political content or just random posts? Who knows! All we can do is wait and see how the algorithms shake out. In the meantime, if you haven’t seen your favorite creators’ content, check out their profiles, other socials or even their website.
Speaking of websites, if you are a creator you need a home on the web. The changes in social demonstrates the importance of having your own website that you control. Make it simple or more complicated, but have a place people can find you when the changes impact you.
Wild Card Time
We love ice cream even in the winter. Finding the right scoop has changed our serving experience. We tried self-heating ones from Pampered Chef and Tupperware, but I would have to wait until the ice cream softened a bit to use them. What ended up being our hands down favorite is a heated scoop from Amazon. It glides through the ice cream straight from the freezer. No more waiting for the ice cream to soften.
Here’s a link - NOT affiliate. Sharing for all the ice cream lovers that like to make the perfect scoop.
Woof! It’s time to Meow!
Princess Leia says it is MEOW cold outside. Leia is the Queen of expression. She has firm boundaries and knows what she wants. Be Leia - and start expressing yourself and respecting your own boundaries.
See you next month! Until then, you can catch me on Be Awesome Together with Charles McFall and soon on Geek Meets Social. Yes, here I go again. My podcast, my expression. Check out my LinkTree for links to the podcasts and more.
I’ll see you soon. Be kind and be you.
All my Love,
Tyra
