Where do you find inspiration?

March 2026
Inspiration is waiting
I’m sitting on our hotel balcony in London preparing for my trip back home. The last ten days have been nothing short of phenomenal. Removing yourself from the everyday can take you to places you didn’t imagine before. It is like the entire world around me is my muse.
What brings you inspiration?
As we move through our daily lives, it can be easy to get lost in doing ‘all the things’ and not seeing the beauty around us. We mechanically skip over the inspiration at our fingertips.
Across from our hotel is a neighborhood park. It is filled with flowers, bushes, trees, benches, and even a hidden tennis court. It is magical. But I wonder how many people walk by it every day and never notice the inspiration spilling from its gates and greenery. As I sit here basking in the moment, I wonder how often I do the same at home.
New places and adventures make us pay attention. We suddenly see details that we miss in our everyday lives. Not going to lie, being in a foreign country with centuries old buildings and history staring me in the face has taken me to a different place. The worn gate with roses growing beside it and the bench in the middle of a grassy field with a palm-like tree that looks out of its place. Like someone said, “let’s plant a palm tree in the middle of London to remind us of the beach.”
But what is around my corner at home that could bring me joy and take me to the magical place where the muses can be found? Where is joy hiding that we least expect it? What are we missing while caught up in the movements of our everyday lives?
I hope March has brought you as much inspiration as it has me. And if it didn’t, maybe take a minute to pause and see the beauty that surrounds you no matter how small or gigantic it might be.
Reddit - Play the Long Game
I'm going to be honest. I do not love Reddit. Well, that is not true. I love it for reviews, for honest feedback about products and services, but I have always been afraid of its troll-ridden reputation. I'm still leery of getting ripped to shreds, but I have to admit, there is good information and engagement to be found there.
Recently, I turned to Reddit to get information and reviews about a subscription perfume box. I was intrigued by the perfume’s Facebook and Instagram ads served to me when I was doom scrolling. I was glad I turned to Reddit. That impulse to check the brand reviews before I hit subscribed saved me.
And that is one reason why I'm going to make Reddit my social platform to get to know better this year. Search engines including AI, return reddit posts in search results, so participating can help you be organically found. It is yet another platform where SEO has become important.
Do you want to join me? I've done research and talked to friends (Tales by Bob - thanks!), and here is additional information and how I'm going to dive into getting more involved on Reddit. Trolls be damned.
- Reddit is made up of subreddits or communities. Join 3-5 that are related to your business or interests. DO NOT ENGAGE, lurk. Get a feel for the subreddit community, because each one has a different culture and way of communicating.
- While you are lurking, you will find out things about your industry, category and competition from real people. It may not be pretty.
- Next up is commenting when you feel you know how the subreddit operates. Once you are comfortable commenting, you can move forward to your own posts - when relevant.
- Authenticity matters. Be a person, not an AI.
- It takes time to build a reputation on Reddit. So, start before you launch your new book or product. This is a long game build, not a quick fix.
- Don’t sell. Reddit hates marketing. Engage with the community and offer advice or opinions that don't include what you are selling.
- Karma points are gained as your comments and posts are given a thumbs up (up vote) by other redditors. CQS (Consumer Quality Score) measures the quality of your posts. These two things can help you gain increased exposure or be banned.
Do you have Reddit tips? You know where to find me!
Travel guides are some of my favorite things to dive into when I go on a trip to some place new. For our London trip, I rediscovered my love of Rick Steve’s guidebooks. If you are traveling to almost any place in Europe, they will help to orient you and narrow down what are the best places to see and things to do. His books usually come with a map that you can slip into your pocket. Great for when cell signal is not the best.
For our trip, I found our hotel, The Eccleston Square Hotel, in Rick’s book on London. There are great walking tours and museum guides. We used his walking tour of the Tower of London. Rick makes things simple to understand and tells you the important parts, like where the bathrooms/toilets are located. Check out his website with free information and links to his podcasts and free audio walking tours.
Sleep. Sometimes you just need to cocoon in a blanket and rest. Wrapping ourselves in comfort, can help block out the world and all the things that overwhelm us. At least for a few minutes.
Gidget is the best at this. While her sister, Leia, prefers to be in a box like kitty bed, Gidget likes to be cocooned. You can see her living her best life in the photo below. She is the queen of knowing how to rest and let things go.
As March comes to the end, and we wonder what April will bring, let’s take a moment to rest.
See you next month! Until then, you can catch me on Be Awesome Together with Charles McFall and soon on Geek Meets Social. Yes, here I go again. My podcast, my expression.
Be kind and be you.
