The fake relationship trope isn't one of the tropes I lived in real life--but that would have been really cool! So sorry I was never a zany romantic comedy heroine. 💜

What I love about this trope is the struggle to carry off the lie. Pretending can get a couple into all kinds of fun trouble. Just check out at I Love Lucy re-runs if you don't believe me!

As always, the people this couple is trying to fool the most is themselves.

I've written a few, including my last release, Two Pucks, but so far, Tricky Puck is turning out to be one of my favorites! I've thrown in a matchmaker and a couple of meddling grandmas to ratchet up the rom-com vibe.

At SQ's House

This week, we had our worst snow storm of the winter--no, wait, it's not winter anymore, it's spring. But it's also New England, so... ➜➜➜➜

It was only a few inches of snow, but it was heavy and slushy and wicked windy, so trees and power lines went down and, you guessed it...

We lost power for two days and one night.

This is one of those once in a blue moon times I wish I owned one of those noisy generators.

Good news: It was cold enough to put our refrigerated food in a cooler outside on the deck.

Bad news: It was cold--only 57 degrees--inside the house. No worries. we wore layers and blankets--we have lots of blankets. They're one of those items I seem to collect. We own no less than 23 (not including comforters).

Call it a quirk.

Lucky news: Our power returned exactly fifteen minutes before game-time for the UConn women's basketball final four game. Unfortunately they lost to Iowa and Caitlin Clark--who is a 3-point beast!

In the meantime, not all is lost because the UConn men's basketball team won their final four game and will play in the Championship FINALS! Yay!

Go Huskies!. 🏀 ❤️

As he pushed himself up to reach for the zipper of her pants, the corner of his eye registered his surroundings. With a jolt he remembered they were in a visitors’ lounge in Children’s Mercy Hospital. His hands stopped and he lifted himself away from her mind-drugging kisses.

“Of course. You’d do it right here, wouldn’t you? Just for the thrill of maybe getting caught?”

She laughed at his suggestion. “Is that a dare?”

“Don’t get any ideas. I have no wish to be embarrassed.”

“Conceding another victory?” She wore a triumphant smile.

“Do you always play games? Is it ever for real?” Brian surprised himself with the question. He realized it was against the rules when he saw the surprise flash in her eyes. And then he wished he’d never opened his mouth. She made him talk too much.

“No. Never.” She still smiled, but it looked put on. He was relieved at her answer and at the same time, bothered. But that was only because he wanted some control.

“Let’s go.” Before I ask any more stupid questions.

Standing was uncomfortable he found, as his jeans strained at the crotch.

“Problem?” she asked.

“Don’t be so haughty or I’ll give you a problem, sweetheart.”

“Oh yeah?” She dared. He looked around the empty, antiseptic room and saw the clock at past one a.m.

“Yeah.” He looked her over without showing his intent. Then he grabbed her to him and pressed her length against his with his lips molded to hers. His hands held her peach-like bottom hard against his erection. God, she felt good. He slipped his mouth from hers and buried his face in her hair, gritting his teeth against the sudden surge of his pulse. He had to maintain control.

Pushing her back against a wall, he began an assault on her neck with his mouth, sucking and breathing in her exciting scent, and moved his hands under her skirt to pull down her panties. He kept her pinned with his weight and stroked her wet pussy slowly. He was rewarded with the sound of her raspy breathing.

“Brian…you play so well.” She spoke with a strained voice as she tried to touch him. But he didn’t let her. He wanted her to beg this time. He would not be so easy.

He slipped his fingers inside her panties and she clenched the hair at the nape of his neck. It was his turn to chuckle. But he didn’t stop the stroke of his fingers. He took her chin in his other hand so he could see her face as he moved the pad of his forefinger to drive her to the brink. But then finally when she had given in with abandon, pushing her hips against his hand, he stopped.

I'd never heard of a real life matchmaker before Grandma’s 90^th birthday.

But surprise, Grandma’s hired one—for me.

For her birthday wish, Grandma says she wants nothing more than to see me settled down.
