Giving Some Curated Hockey Romance Books & the Great Interesting Writing Experiment
Hello ,
Do you ever get a burst of ambition to try something new on occasion?
Of course you do! You try reading new authors all the time, right?
Well, for me, the burst of ambition has hit and I'm finally going to take action on something I've been thinking about for a while--and putting it off.
Okay, I'll tell you up front, I'm talking about my writing process. So many NLers told me they found my last rant note about my book-writing process very kind of interesting.
Heaven knows I love talking about the subject, so I'll make any excuse I decided to share my current writing process experiment.
The Writing Experiment: learning to dictate my novel's first draft instead of typing it. I've considered dictating before and rejected it as eccentric and impractical. Now I've changed my mind. Crazy, you say? Probably Maybe. Whatever--I'm doing it!
Let me explain why and why now:
✍️ 1. The numbers are impressive.
According to experts who've taught this method to hundreds of writers, the average word count for one hour of dictating fiction is 3,000 words. The average word count for an hour of writing is ~1,500. That's double the output. No small advantage!
