THE REGULAR DIRT

image

Hey folks! Fancy seeing you here again. I’m running on fumes today after staying up way too late working on Slab Steele and the Outer Rim Job, so I’m going to try and keep this brief. The only real news in my life is trying to hit a word count deadline I set for myself at the end of the month so I can deliver the above sequel on time. I work full time and have a couple of youngsters that love hanging out with their dad, so most of my writing gets done after they go to bed. I’m running a bit further behind than I’d like—what with working from home, virtual school, and whatnot. I have to snag time when I can (example: writing this on my lunch right now; and edit: finishing it on my break a little later). I’m sure a lot of you can relate. We’re all in this pandemic thing together, after all.

So, as I look forward to several more nights where I only get four hours of sleep, I would appreciate it if you would enjoy this meme for me:

And this one, but it’s more of an acquired taste:

Wanna know how flaring burned out I’m feeling? I didn’t even bother to delete this next bit from my template. Yeah, bruh. That bad. Sorry for the repeat.

THE WHISPERSYNCED DIRT: PART DEUX

I am pleased to announce that the Whispersync feature for Slab Steele and the Venusian Exchange finally went live! This means that if you already own the Kindle version (or have Kindle Unlimited), you can add audible narration for only $7.49. If you aren’t familiar, Whispersync allows you to switch back and forth between reading and listening at your heart’s desire.

LISTEN TO A SAMPLE HERE

Matthew Broadhead did a bang-up job with the narration. I ain’t flaring joking. Slab sounds like JFK if he got into nose candy and became a sleazy used car salesman, and Chet sounds like he strolled out of Appalachia in nothing more than a worn out pair of overalls rolled up mid-calf. It makes my heart glow every time I hear it. Plus, there’s a few minutes of bloopers at the end if you’re into that kind of thing.

THE DIRTY PROMO SECTION

Do me a favor and click some stuff, eh? The more clicks I get, the more likely the cool kids are to let me in on the really stellar promos. Try not to read the first one in Eddard Stark’s voice, okay? And definitely don’t even think about what Jon Snow sounds like either. Best five seasons of TV ever, by the way. Shame they never finished it...

FREEBIE OF THE FORTNIGHT: Datapocalypse by Christopher Keast

A story of love, too much data, and the end of the world.

image

A novel on the throes of artificial intelligence creeping a little too much into our lives along with the continuous feeding of our picture-taking appetites. Datapocalypse is a poetic attempt to bring together science fiction, international intrigue, comedy, romance and dystopia in articulation of a fierce exaggeration of our destiny.
