Ready Responder Friday - On automation and getting started

Hi all, let’s get into Ready Responder Friday,

Each week I am going to serve up a self-curated list of the best the internet has to offer.

We’ll not only cover training, nutrition, recovery and the regular gym bro topics. BUT, we’re also going to get into Mindset, Psychology, and how you can practically apply wisdom from other fields such as business to optimize your results in and out of the gym.

If you’re interested in boosting your energy. Creating lasting habits. And the occasional corny joke. Then you won’t want to miss this in your inbox.

Money & Fitness

Whether trying to build your bank account or your body, AUTOMATION will help you. I really enjoyed listening to Dan John discuss how setting up your day to Automate for consistency helps you Remove will power from the equation.

One less decision means you are more likely to follow through on the steps you need to take in order to reach your goals. Don’t wait til the end of the month to try and remember to put money in your savings account, automate the process. Similarly, don’t wait to see if you’re in the mood to workout after work, set a time, invite some friends, lay out your clothing. AUTOMATE.

Violence of Action

“ A good plan, violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan executed next week.”

- George S. Patton

If the word “violent” is too much for you, try the softer approach of author James Clear:

“When you’re in motion, you’re planning and strategizing and learning. Those are all good things, but they don’t produce a result.

Action, on the other hand, is the type of behavior that will deliver an outcome.” -James Clear, Atomic Habits

Question for you…

What is one thing you have been in motion towards, that you can ACT upon?

What is the single smallest step you can do to move toward that goal?

…If you have a clear answer to both questions, stop wasting time and START.

Thanks for reading. I'll see you next week for Ready Responder Friday.

Stay Safe. Stay Ready.

-Devon
