Howdy y'all!

It's launch day for Quinn and Will and I have to say, I'm seriously overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for Two for Tripping from my ARC readers. For those of you who haven't yet picked it up, I wanted to share a section of my author note from this book with you guys. I know for many of you there is no coming back from Will in Molly and Finn's book, but I strongly urge you to give him a chance.

When I started digging into Will as a character, I was every bit as taken aback and confused by his intense slut shaming of his sister. And as the author, I started to panic. Will was such a nice guy for the most part, sweet, caring, a great leader, someone his team could depend on at all times… but the slut shaming. Damn.

I know for so many people – almost myself included – there’s no coming back from that. And I’d feared I’d written an irredeemable hero. But the more he and I talked – yes, I talk to my characters – the more he let me inside his world and I realized that his reactions came from a place of pain.

I don’t talk about my childhood experience very often. I guess part of me still feels like I still somehow overreacted to it, and on some level, maybe I even believe it was my own fault, or I somehow deserved it.

But I wanted to address it with Will. I wanted to face it head on and confront it. I wanted to shine a light on male sexual assault. And I wanted to remind people that you have no fucking clue what’s going on in anyone’s lives.

It wasn’t an easy book to write, it wasn’t smooth sailing by any means. Digging up those pieces of my past were difficult....

Writing through Will’s eyes reminded me of that time. It made me grateful for having supportive parents who went to bat for me so damn hard when I told them what happened. They never once made me feel like it was in any way my fault, or that I was overreacting, or that I could have somehow prevented it.

For those of you who know my work, you know I put pieces of myself in each of my books. This book was a painful piece, a piece that hurts me to talk about, it hurts to relive, and it hurts to put out there. But I know it’s necessary. I know it’s important. I know that through Will’s story, this book might somehow help other people who went through similar experiences to Will and me. And that’s why it’s all worthwhile.

If you missed the pre-order, or you're a KU reader, go forth and download: Two for Tripping

So, what's your drink and dessert of the day? I hear you ask. Well, for this release, we have gin (Quinn prefers it with Sprite but we'll forgive you for wanting tonic water if that's your jam) and apple pie.

Don't forget to send pictures of your gin and apple pie celebrations to me so I can share in my group and in my newsletter. I might even send Snow Pirates swag to one lucky winner!

That's all I have for you this week. I don't like to bombard y'all with too much of anything on release day. Translation: my head's all over the place, and I'm maniacally hitting refresh on my author dashboard.

If you've read Will and Quinn's story, please consider leaving it a review over on Goodreads, Amazon, or Bookbub. You have no idea how much indie authors appreciate those!

I can't tell you how grateful I am to have y'all with me on this wild ride <3

Until next time,
