👋🏽 ¡Hola, !
¡Feliz Friday or Saturday! (due to a technical difficulty). I hope you're done feeling like puddy, silly. It's the weekend and the holidays are right around the corner. Let's stress eat, stress shop, and let's get right into this week's

PICTURE: 📸
I took a picture at a concert, this week I saw my favorite artist; RESIDENTE!
This is Residente's Tour Las Letras Ya No Importan. If you've been sleeping on rapper Rene Peréz aka soloist Residente of the music group Calle 13, you need to get up to speed with this talented lyricist, composer, and video producer. Mindblown: He featured a visual artist in the band, who added another layer of emotion to the music by creating sketches, watercolors, and paintings inspired by each song. Another desk with a stenographer used a typewriter to live-type every lyric and word he spoke into the mike, much like a sign language interpreter. The artist's and typist's work was seen on the screen during the show. Do yourself a favor and look up his self-titled documentary Residente (2017) or binge his fun and provocative music videos and songs this weekend.
OPTIMISM: 💖
An artsy quote to finally close this political cycle:
"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies."
— Groucho Marx
COOL FIND: 🕵🏽♂️
I went into the lost in found for this week's find: a good read for ya, . In a world buzzing with chaos and constant noise, Mark Manson’s "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" offers a refreshing perspective on prioritizing what truly matters. As we navigate the aftermath of the election results, this book encourages us to focus on our values and let go of the trivial distractions that drain our energy. Manson's candid advice empowers readers to embrace life's challenges with resilience and clarity. In these times of uncertainty, it's a timely reminder to invest our emotional resources wisely. ✨
HOMEWORK: 📝
Multicultural Collage: Create a collage using images, words, and objects that represent both Mexican and American cultures, or whichever cultures you're proudly made up of. Extra credit if you throw in some charcoal sketching, watercolor, acrylics, or markers for additional creativity points.
OTHER STUFF: 📢
Need more art in your life? My good friend and favorite Tejano, Huston-born Alexander Salazar is holding an art sale with all proceeds supporting the San Diego Art Advisory exhibition space. Art adds to your life, supports creators, and your investment often retains its value or appreciates, while making your walls look good by just hanging there. Give Alex a call, and tell'em I sent you!
¡Muchas gracias for opening and reading these emails! I hope you enjoyed today's artsy POCHO Stuff Email. Let me know your thoughts on Residente, Calle 13, the book reco, or anything else that might pop into your POCHO brain. See ya next Friday, have an amazing week.
Con mucho mucho mucho amor,
