PICTURE: 📸
I'm giving you the bird.
On my most recent walk to J Street Marina, I took a picture of this very interesting bird. I ignorantly thought it was a stork dropping off a baby. A quick web search informed me it's a Great Egret. Have you seen them throughout the San Diego (wetlands) region, ?
OPTIMISM: 💖
A quote that feels especially relevant when hope fuels action.
“Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.”

COOL FIND: 🕵🏽♂️
The Story Behind “El Triste” 🎙️💔
You might know “El Triste” as one of the most iconic—and heartbreaking—songs in Latin music, but do you know where it really came from? This beautifully crafted Instagram reel uncovers the origin story behind José José’s legendary 1970 performance, and how composer Roberto Cantoral turned the grief of losing his mother into pure poetry. From a chance drawing of names to a voice that stunned the crowd into silence, this is the kind of historia that gives you chills. Watch the full reel and relive a defining moment in música en español. 🎶🇲🇽
HOMEWORK: 📝
Cultural Holiday Celebrations: With Easter around the corner, take some time to reflect on how you celebrate holidays from both Mexican and American traditions. Whether it’s huevitos and cascarones, a family brunch, or just reflecting on the religious season, find small ways to blend both cultures and create your own meaningful traditions. 🐣🌸
OTHER STUFF: 📢
Latinos at Coachella 🎡🔥
Coachella weekend two is here, and you already know—Latinos showed up and showed out! From musical act to the fashion, the cultura is alive and vibing in the desert. Our friend (and fellow Pocho) Chris Cabezas (@chriscabezastv) dropped a fun IG reel capturing the vibe, the people, and the orgullo of it all. You can see all of the Latinos prefrorming at Coachella here. Check em out and let me know: who repped hardest this year? 🌵🎶✨
Thanks for tuning in this week, familia. Whether you're reflecting, jamming, or just looking up bird facts like me, I hope something here made you feel seen. As always, reply to say hi or share what made your week algo bien. Catch you next Friday! 💌✨
Un fuerte abrzo,
