👋🏽 Hey !

We’re two weeks into 2026 and I’m already getting reminders from the universe to slow down. This week’s edition is a mix of presence, playlist-powered cooking, and one big reminder that even beer sales have a backstory. Let's get into this week's...

My favorite traffic sign. 🚫📱 And my gentle reminder for you to do more things that make you forget you even have a phone—be present, be bored, be alive.

OPTIMISM: đź’–

"What’s a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see."

— Lin-Manuel Miranda (playwright & composer)

From Hamilton (2015).

A reminder that optimism is about creating a better future, even if we’re not there to witness it.

COOL FIND: 🕵🏽‍♂️

imageDry January? 🕵🏽‍♂️🍺

My new favorite Latino creator, Fernando Hurtado, breaks down a recent report showing softer Q3 2025 sales for Constellation Brands (the U.S. importer of Modelo and Corona). The takeaway? Ongoing socioeconomic headwinds—especially for Hispanic consumers—are changing how (and where) folks buy beer. Fewer physically demanding “4,000-calorie jobs,” tighter immigration enforcement, fewer social gatherings, a shift from c-stores to big retailers, and a broader move toward healthier or non-alcoholic options are all in the mix. Fernando ends by asking how your beer habits have changed. Thought-provoking stuff.

HOMEWORK: 📝

This week it's easy, but you're gonna have to be intentional! Put on your favorite rolas and cook a meal with corazón—cumbia, boleros, or whatever moves you. Comer bien es quererse bien.

OTHER STUFF: 📢

🌀 Real talk: this week I’m a little low on other pocho stuff. Work is working, life is lifing. That said, this space is better when it’s communal. If you’ve seen, read, cooked, watched, or overheard something that feels pocho-coded, hit reply and send it my way (or shoot it my way via sosh).

Also, while you’re at it: what should I add to my 2026 reading list? Essays, novelas, memoirs, cookbooks, newsletters—drop your recs.

That’s all I’ve got this week— You know where to find me. ✌🏽📚
