We're getting personal: I took a picture of my feet at a podiatrist appointment.
It's still Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, and sometimes self-care looks more like a pedicure or feet-finder content than an emotional therapy appointment. I learned that some of my nailbeds were permanently damaged from years of dancing Balet Folklorico. Β‘Si seΓ±or!
OPTIMISM: π
In solitary with friends and members of the Black community, here is a Juneteenth-inspired quote for you, from King himself:
"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."

OTHER STUFF: π’
Even though I'm a proud marketer by trait, I'm oppositionally anti-corporation, especially when they pander. This week Jon Stewert laid into em and comically summed up my true feelings on corporate morality! Take some time to check out Jon Stewart smash the myth of corporate morality in Pride, BLM, and beyond.

πCelebrating Pride Through Year-Round Inclusion π
In honor of June being Pride Month, "BTW" (Bonus Tip of the Week) section focuses on practical ways to foster inclusivity year-round. I asked LGBTQ friends and allies to share their most underrated tips for being inclusive. Here are their valuable insights:
π Introduce Yourself with Pronouns
Kori CallΓΊ (he/him), a queer trans-masc artist from San Diego, suggests to readers, "Introducing themselves with their pronouns and keeping them in their email signature. And staying up to date on politics that directly impact marginalized communities and advocating towards change." This simple practice normalizes the sharing of pronouns, making spaces more inclusive for everyone. Additionally, being informed and advocating for marginalized communities is crucial.
π Avoid Making Assumptions
Missy Betts (she/her), a bisexual Latina living in Mexico, advises, "Stop making assumptions about people. For example, seeing a pretty girl and asking if she has a boyfriend, or telling your young nephew that heβs going to have so many girlfriends when he grows up, or assuming that just because two people appear to be a heterosexual couple, that they are actually are." Normalizing diverse identities and relationships helps create a more inclusive environment.
π Show Up and Speak Up
Robert Lemos (he/him), a gay scientist, ballet folklorico dancer (and my g-bff), emphasizes, "Show up, support, or speak up throughout the year when an issue of inclusivity comes up." Consistent advocacy and support for inclusivity issues demonstrate a genuine commitment to equality.
