👋🏽 ¡Hola !
Hope this finds you in good spirits and even better WiFi. This week’s Pocho Stuff drops a little sparkle from the Gran Hotel ceiling, a history lesson disguised as a banger (shoutout to JuanGa), and a gentle nudge to honor the stories that made us, whether it's through your family tree or a check-in with the men you care about. Wherever you are, I’m glad you’re here. Let's get into this week's...

A ceiling worth looking up to ✨
I took a picture of the breathtaking Tiffany glass ceiling of the Gran Hotel Ciudad de México, located right on the historic Zócalo. Designed by French artisan Jacques Gruber and built in the late 1800s, the Art Nouveau masterpiece brings major old-world glam to the heart of CDMX.

A quote just for you :

🎙️ JuanGa at Bellas Artes
I learned so much from CDMX content creator Arturo Leal. If you’ve never seen the iconic footage of Juan Gabriel performing at Bellas Artes, do yourself a favor and look it up. What was once a controversial, headline-grabbing moment—an openly gay pop singer 🏳️🌈 taking the stage at Mexico’s most elite classical music venue—has now become a cultural milestone. JuanGa’s 1990 performance didn’t just deliver musical brilliance; it shattered classist and homophobic barriers in Mexican society. With the National Symphony Orchestra behind him and the eyes of the nation on him, he redefined what belonged on that stage. This wasn’t just a concert—it was history. 🕊️🏳️🌈🇲🇽✨

HOMEWORK: 📝
Family Tree Project: Create a family tree that includes all of the known branches, and rediscover your Mexican and American family history.
OTHER STUFF: 📢
Real Men Cry, Too 😢💪 It’s Men’s Mental Health Month, and I wanna remind you that being fuerte also means being real. The stats don’t lie—Latino men are facing mental health struggles at rising rates, but stigma keeps too many from speaking up or seeking help. This week, let’s check in on the men we love: your dad, primo, partner, compa. Normalize the convo. Share a resource. Be the safe space.
👉 Check out @poderista’s post for ways to support the vatos in your life and help break the silence.
As always, take what you need, share what resonates, and pass it on to someone who could use algo bien. Whether you're looking up at your own ceiling or just trying to hold it together till the weekend, remember: you're doing great, mijo/a/e. Nos vemos next week.
Con cariño,
