🪅 POCHO Stuff email (Friday November 21th, 2025)

Nov 22, 2025 1:23 am

Hola !

Maybe it’s the cooler weather or the season shifting, but everything lately has been pulling me back toward books, quiet moments, and little pockets of peace. From stumbling into a real-life bookstore (for the first time in way too long) to the podcasts and quotes that found me at just the right time, this edition leans full into reading, reflection, and feeling grateful for the tiny things that help us breathe a little deeper. Let’s get into this week's...

PICTURE: 📸

I took a picture during a visit to a real bookstore, my first in a while. The shelves were lined with quotes like this one, little reminders of why words still matter. This one stopped me in my tracks: “Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled ‘This could change your life.’ Keep reading to see how, just like magic, this little quote IS.

OPTIMISM: 💖

This week, you get two quotes because I make the rules:

“The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way a person looks at reality, then you can change it.”

James Baldwin, quoting and reflecting on his friend, the Mexican painter Abelardo L. Rodríguez, in The Evidence of Things Not Seen (1985)

COOL FIND: 🕵🏽‍♂️

🎧📚 Reclaiming Our Reading Era

imageTwo reading-themed episodes from It’s Been a Minute snuck into my recommended feed this week — and honestly, perfect timing.

The first, “Have We Lost the Art of Reading?”, all about how we keep misinterpreting classics (…The Great Gatsby Halloween party lives rent-free). The other, was a reminder from earlier this year, “Books vs. Brain Rot: Why It’s So Hard to Read,” hit a little too close to home. Both are sharp, funny, and surprisingly comforting if you’ve been trying to get your reading groove back, like I am!

HOMEWORK: 📝

Un Mini Momento Para Ti ☕📘

Pick up one book — any book — and read just one page. That’s it. No pressure to finish a chapter, no guilt if it’s been months (or years). Just one page to remind your brain what it feels like to slow down and sink into words again. Es un tiny moment of peace that you deserve, . Little by little, we’re rebuilding that reading muscle — suerte.

OTHER STUFF: 📢

🍂📚 Gratitude, pero Pocho

My latest life chapter has been all about transición: growing, shifting, and finding little pockets of calm where I can. Lately, that’s meant sitting on the front porch with my husband, rocking in our chairs, sipping coffee, while reading. This season has me feeling extra grateful for those small, quiet moments that remind us we’re still becoming. And with Thanksgiving around the corner, it feels especially meaningful to slow down and truly savor them.

If you’re on Goodreads, let’s connect — and get ready, because next week I’m asking for your book recommendations.

📚✨

Thanks for spending part of your week here —slowing down, maybe laughing a little, and maybe even rediscovering your reading era with me. As Thanksgiving rolls in, I’m wishing you moments of calm, claridad, and connection… even if it’s just one page at a time.
