Hello ,
I failed this week!!!
They say failure happens.
But I’ve come to realize that failure doesn’t actually occur at the moment things go wrong. Instead, failure happens when we keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. It’s the pattern of consistently continuing on a path that yields negative outcomes, without pausing to reflect or adjust.
Imagine you’re on a long journey. If you’re heading in the wrong direction, at what point do you fail? Is it when you arrive at your destination, or halfway there?
The truth is, failure begins the moment you realize you’re off course and choose to keep going without redirecting your steps. But as soon as you acknowledge the mistake and course-correct, you’re one step closer to success.
This week, I want to be vulnerable with you. There are two Achilles’ heel I’ve been battling — two personal challenges I thought I was overcoming, or perhaps simply not paying enough attention to. But recently, they showed up hard, revealing that there are still unresolved issues within me. I looked inward and knew I had to address these parts of myself.
The natural response might be to accept these struggles as part of who I am — “I keep failing at this; it’s just me.” But that’s a road leading to failure. Instead, I choose to confront myself honestly, retrace my steps, and acknowledge that I need to correct my ways because I am committed to succeeding in life.
Every time I face these persistent challenges, it hurts — especially knowing I’ve struggled with them for years. But I refuse to throw in the towel before reaching the finish line. Some of us are also works in progress — dealing with character flaws, attitudes, or challenges that seem unchangeable.
We’ve often accepted these as normal, thinking, “It’s just the way I am.” But is that really true? Or have we simply chosen to accept and live with them?
This week, I invite you to join me on a journey of self-assessment. Let’s evaluate those things about ourselves that we’ve settled for, and consider that there is always a better way. We shouldn’t accept failure before it even happens. Instead, we can choose to succeed — to do better and be better.
The truth is, if I don’t change, I will fail. And that’s a realization I’ve made this week. Sometimes, the only person who can tell us the truth is ourselves.
So, as we move into the next half of the year, I challenge you:What’s that one thing you need to correct? Let’s start working on it now, so we don’t accept failure before we’ve even reached our destination.
I am committed to becoming a better person. Are you? Let’s not give up on ourselves or each other.
Have a fantastic week!
Thank you.
Take care,
Olamidotun.
P.S.: Feel free to forward this to someone who needs a little reminder and encouragement.
