Hello ,
I want to share with you a bible quote I love so much. It reads - “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin…”
In the last one week, these words have come to my mind multiple times and made me realise that although you may not see the full picture sometimes, it is important to build in bits.
I believe in writing down a vision and everyone knows I’m a big advocate of that. But sometimes when you write a big vision, you get scared by the ‘giganticness’ or ‘enomorsity’ of the task at hand.
You can get overwhelmed because you do not know where to start, how to start or where to go. But lately, I realise that some of the visions I had in mind that scared me for years and still do sometimes, were greatly helped after deciding years ago to look away from the big task and start from where I am, right now.
The little things for me were being consistent with this newsletter, writing my books or starting a career in immigration without knowing the full picture or having the right qualifications when I started. Even choosing to restart my life in a new country and not being scared to step out are part of the little things for me.
Stepping out of the boat, looking at the ground and seeing you’re about to walk on water can be overwhelming. But sometimes, just choosing to step out of the boat can look like sending that email, applying for that job, writing a chapter a day of that book you have always wanted to, gather a few friends instead of the big conference in your head.
Just starting is easier than trying to achieve the big dream.
As the different pieces of all I’m trying to do come together and some still don’t, I’m choosing not to stop. I’m choosing to carry on and build in bits.
I am also saying to you, choose to do the same. Do not let the ‘giganticness’ or ‘enomoursity’ of the task at hand overwhelm you.
Start 5 minutes of drafting that business idea you have.
Start 2 minutes of affirming yourself.
Start that online course.
Start small and build it. The LORD loves to see the work begin.
Yes, as you take small steps, of course you will make mistakes sometimes but you must always fail forward and never backwards. I heard a saying once that said - “The most successful people are people who keep doing, failing and getting better, unlike people that fail and stand still.”
Personal Story - I have no personal story today. The newsletter is already personal enough so I want to hear your own personal story. You may not be bold enough to tell me, then just tell yourself something positive and that you’re a light. Tell yourself that every step you take only brings you closer to your dreams.
Enjoy these two pictures from the result of building small in my life.
Sharing the image below because I get inspiration for starting with little things from the other awardees in this picture that started with little things and have achieved great things today.
In the meantime, please send me an email because I will love to hear your story about building in bits. The stories I hear every week make me happy to be writing these letters.
Have a wonderful week.
Be a light and stay shining.
