Changing things up

Feb 06, 2022 1:31 pm

Morning friends,

As much as I love a good routine…

Sometimes I force myself to BREAK THE SCRIPT.

Shake things up a bit.

As Albert Einstein said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.”

His point was if we're not changing, we're not growing. And if we're not growing — we're not being intelligent.

Got it. Time to make some ch-ch-ch-changes (David Bowie voice).

We can start small by taking a new route to work or going to a new event.

I sometimes brush my teeth with my opposite hand. Partly because I’m a goof, but mainly to remind myself that I can always make changes.

🥕 5am Energy

My heart thumped when I first read this tweet

So I immediately signed up before I could talk myself out of it.

5am is early… but so far it’s been an amazing change.

🗣️ Communication Formula (55-38-7 Rule)

Communication is 55% nonverbal, 38% vocal, and 7% words.

Yes, only 7% is about the words.

Want proof?

This TEDx Talk has 11 million views and it’s about nothing. Like actually about nothing.

Yet, it’s delivered SO well that you watch it all.

It’s a masterclass on communication. (The presenter, Will Stephen, is now a top writer for SNL.)

🎧 Podcast

Jason Wright is 47 (yet looks 41) and has many things I’m optimizing for in life:

  • happily married
  • constantly improving
  • investor/advisor for companies
  • a positive and playful outlook on life

It's always fun talking with him. He had me on his podcast again recently to catch up. We dug into personal improvement habits and learning.

Then I asked HIM some questions toward the end. Specifically about the “spark” in his marriage. Check it out here

Have a great week,

Mitchell

Ps. How will you “break the script” this week?
