10/13/2023 - Final Weekend of the Kickstarter, “Inside CKP” Interview Tonight, and Murderbugs Pictures
Today is Friday the 13th, which sounds like a perfect day to indulge in a little bit of the spooky.
Here, have an assassin bug:
This is the graphite rendition of a Virginia-style “wheel bug” variant of the assassin bug, soon to be scanned and cleaned up (must remove those smudges) for an interior illustration in Murderbugs.
If you would like to grab an early copy of Murderbugs or The Vampire Survival Guide, you can find them on Kickstarter here:
We have entered our final weekend, and are hoping to push to $6000 in funding, at which point, Alex Shvartsman will join the ranks of Vampire authors. If you haven’t already done so, please check out the campaign and share in your reading and writing communities.
We have already sold or drawn a few Tuckerizations, but there are more available for both books. Also, if you are an author looking to sell your own short stories, several people involved in the anthologies are professional editors and selection readers who are offering critiques as add-ons.
And, finally, if you really want to make your mark on the anthologies, we have two unique offers remaining:
- An illustrated dedication page to your pet—Yes, you can purchase the dedication of Murderbugs and have a hand-drawn portrait of your pet included.
- A bespoke vampire story—Give one of our vampire authors the prompts for a story in the upcoming Vampire Survival Guide; if it happens to be autobiographical, we’ll keep your monstrous identity secret.
If you’ve gotten your horror viewing out of the way early and are looking for something a little cozier this evening, I’ll be on “Inside CKP” with Jeremy Comeaux, talking about—among other things—Murderbugs and some of the stories behind the scenes.

And other stories…
In the scifi and fantasy writing community, my friend Mike Wyant Jr. just released his novel Chronicles of a Mad God. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but if you like urban-fantasy action thrillers, it looks like a fun one to check out.
Looking ahead, Murder on the Barge Inn will be launching the week before Halloween. If you’d like to be an early reader and receive a free ARC ebook, please let me know in an email reply. (If you volunteer to be an early reader, the hope is that you’ll read through the story before launch day, and if you enjoy it post a positive rating and review when it goes live.)
That’s all for me today.
As always, happy reading—unless you’re in the mood for reading something too dark and scary to be happy. In any case, read safely, and please secure your own book before assisting others, or something like that.
