Hey Strawberry Fans!
In this newsletter, I want to get to know you a little more. Some of you found me five years ago on the German program, “We’re all in this together.” Some of you are new members from the Monster Brides Virtual Convention, where I introduced you to my monster brides with lip-syncing. Some of you were with me through my career with the Wild Rose Press and are wondering just how weird I’ll get now that I’m an indie author. Answer to that? All the way. All the weird. So, where are you on the weirdness scale?
Type 1 – Fearless. You read anything and everything. If the story is compelling, you crack the spine and turn the pages. Your shelves are bulging with mysteries, romances, fantasy, science fiction, and even a few nonfiction titles. You read my newsletter for the book fairs and ARC opportunities. These are for you!
Type 2—Loyalist. You have followed me for years. Either the Strawberry Shifters or Wylder West books were your gateway to my bizarre world. You rode the waves on the pirate ship, Patricia’s Wish, and the ups and downs of my publishing career. In this newsletter, I offer the opportunity to ARC read the final book in the Walk the Walk pirate romance series, Shiver Me Satyr.
While my love for pirate romance lives on forever, I must end the series to make room for the other projects I have shelved for 2+ years while I followed the book market. Find out what Magda is up to, decide the fate of Chub & Teeth’s bromance (now that Teeth is a Kraken), and live the love story of Hybris the Satyr & Captain Betts before its release on 7/10/2025.
Type 3—Penny Pincher. Anyone who has taken my author classes knows I love a good bargain, and my favorite price is FR33. Some of my favorite authors I discovered in the Stuff Your Kindle Events. You read my newsletter and dozens more for the fr33 books and recs. Well, this rec is for you.
Y'all know bear shifters are my favorite, right?
Type 4—Monster Brides Fan. Thank you for attending the Monster Brides Virtual convention, especially if you attended my live presentation so I wasn’t so nervous.
Do you know how worried I was that I’d be playing Name That Tune by myself? Eeeek! You have my eternal gratitude if you ordered book boxes during the event. Missed the event? My book box order form is open until 6/21.
You love the Monster Brides, Time for Monsters spin-off series, and anything SC Principale writes. My books are a darker, edgier diversion between her releases. Well, have you seen her golem book? Check out what I’m recommending for you.
Type 5—Fellow Weirdo. You love to read books that make your friends giggle. Discreet covers were made for the carpool line or the morning train. You are on the journey with me because you know I’m a weirdo too.
While your friends are shy about their romances starring a man with wings, your Kindle hosts spider heroes, hucows, and lots of Marilyn Barr books. We are truly twin flames. I thank you for reading the Milk Me Anthology as I learn to write darker and kinkier from these seasoned kink writers. Because of your open mind, I got to learn how to be a better writer—a gift I’ll treasure forever.
Type 6—Stalking Superfan. When I see your name pop up in Facebook parties, Book Club Zooms, TikTok Comments, or my email inbox, I squeal and happy stim. I’m instantly comfortable at a book signing when you arrive. We trade book recs, cry during my 3rd act breakups (because I can’t resist them), and swoon over snow monster art/merch/stuffies.
I’d love to invite you to Flirty in TN. This time it’s in Chattanooga at the Read House. I’ve never been there, so you know what that means…Sheenanigans!
Book Recs!
No matter what type of Strawberry fan you are, I’m grateful you are here. I love connecting with all of you—it’s what fuels me when author woes attack. Did you identify yourself as one of the types? Reply to this email and let me know so I can tailor these newsletters to you. I’ll still be my quirky self with too many secret reveals and books that make your jaw drop.
In fact, I revealed a huge secret at the Monster Brides Virtual Con—the cover of Clutching Her Fishman’s Roe, the sequel to Clutching Cthulhu’s Pearls. Check it out (and as always, if you want to see the NSFW version, check out my Patreon.)
Blessed Be and Let Magic Find You,
Marilyn Barr
