Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Hey ,
Greetings from chilly Chicago! Sadly, I am supposed to be in North Carolina this week, or heading home, but I was planning to drive there and the weather looked wonky so I begged off at the last minute and stayed North to shiver alone.
I am so grateful to my friend Lynn who offers the group of us her beach house every November so that we can connect, rekindle our friendships, laugh and support one another. There are ten of us in the group when everyone is present, which sadly is rarely. Sound familiar? Yes indeed. These beach weekends inspired my Crazy Eights, my reunion conversation about not seeing enough of one another and the soon to be famous dare!
What reunion? What dare? You might be wondering about now if Covid has warped my mind. Nope. I am just leaping ahead to the All’s Crazy in Love series. Did you know that you can meet the Crazy Eights before the series rolls out in 2023 and 2024? There are two ways to do this.
First, download the free booklet introducing the crazies, and second, snag a copy of the prequel, Crazy to Wed, available exclusively on Amazon.
Romance Giveaway is running through the end of this month. With fifty books to choose from, grab a free read and a find a cozy corner, then enjoy!
In honor of Thanksgiving, this Thursday here in the states I have dedicated the blog post this week to quotes that inspire gratitude. It felt good to write the post and remember all the reasons to feel grateful. Each of you is a wonderful reason to give thanks, today and everyday.
I am about one-third done with the first draft of the next Crazies novel, Crazy to Act, and as I write this I am 70% of the way to my 50K words goal for NANOWRIMO, but this week I will set it aside for cooking and the wonderful tradition of Thanksgiving with family. to be honest, it feels like I am leaving one family for another. My thanksgiving tasks? Cranberry Sauce (Ina Garten's of course, Dressing (or as I call it, stuffing) and sweet potatoes, What are you making?
The women who inspired Sofia, Gabby, Willow and Sydney, Avery and the others have been my friends for thirty years or more, seeing me through tough times like my divorce, and celebrating high points, like my retirement, purchase of a new house and so many more moments of joy. Writing about them brings them closer, like surrounding myself with family.
I use Thanksgiving as an excuse to eat too much, walk away from my work temporarily, shop and to count my blessings. You are my blessings, one and all. My friends, my family, my fans, my colleagues. My cup runneth over.
So whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not I wanted you to know, today and every day, that I appreciate having you in my life, in my work, in my world. And I am grateful for your continued support of my writing journey. I hope you will enjoy this new series as it becomes available. Entertaining you, touching your hearts, is my way of showing my gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving and happy reading,
P.S. For you shoppers among us, Black Friday deals abound. But please don’t forget Small Business Saturday. Local businesses, and small potatoes enterprises like mine, need your support to swim upstream against the Amazons of the world (pun intended). Buy local this holiday season.
