Hey ,
I am heading out for a long weekend away from home beginning tomorrow and I am so excited. A change of scenery is always great for my creative juices and I am off to a bed and breakfast where I know the gardens are beautiful, the food is plentiful and delish, and I sleep like a baby. I know because it is one of my favorite places to get away from it all.
I have a new kitten. Meet Annabelle.
I confess I am a bit concerned about leaving her with the cat-sitter. She is very feisty and has been giving Gracie a serious run for her money. She needed to be tough to survive since her owner dumped her by the side of the road, but now that she's safe, I wish she'd settle down.
Stories like Annabelle's have a happy ending, but many pets die from abuse, neglect or abandonment. These stories break my heart. Animals are helpless creatures who depend on us.
This week is National Pet Adoption week. If you have room in your home, shelters are overflowing! Take in a pet. Even one you end up nicknaming Trouble, because when they finish chewing your favorite pillow and cuddle in your lap, you will be glad you did! Consider curling up with a good book this month, and a kitten or puppy.
I had a banner weekend giving away over 6000 copies of Bedazzled! Hopefully many of those lucky enough to grab book one for free will finish the series. What about All’s Crazy in Love? Well, I learned a little lesson about series recently. Readers who read one book want to read two, or three, or four…or more. So I am holding off until I have a few more books ready to go before launching them together. Give me until fall then watch for the next three books in the series to come out in rapid succession. I am working hard to make this happen.

First, a new version of Jane Austen’s Persuasion became available on Netflix. It stars Dakota Johnson of Fifty Shades fame doing a very convincing British accent, and a supporting cast of legitimately British actors. The sets and costumes are great, the hints of sexual inuendoe in this updated classic give it a modern feel. Is it the best Austen I have even encountered? No, but it is still worth the time.
Second, FreeVee TV (where did this station come from anyway?) has a new Hallmark equivalent called Love Accidentally that was predictable but charming. This light romance tells of two fierce competitors at the office who unknowingly are texting each other and growing very close as strangers. The chemistry is good and the improbably story works somehow. Give it a look-see. I think you’ll like it.
And in theaters, the very promising Mr. Malcolm's List and Mrs Harris Goes to Paris. Those names have a lilt to them when said together. If only for the vintage Dior gowns, I have to see Mrs. Harris. And for Theo James...well, you know I think he's hot, hot, hot. If anyone has seen the films, let me know. They are high on my to-do list.
